Link's journey in Termina was stressful, frightening, strange, and at times very fun. It was a world with culture, and diversity. And it had the most fascinating town Link had ever visited. Despite not finding Navi, he was glad to have saved the Skullkid, his forest friend, from Majora's Mask, along with eliminating a majority of the problems that the people of Termina faced. Now it was time to head back to Kokiri Forest, for Link was exhausted and needed to take a long rest.
When he arrived, the Kokiri all welcomed him back, especially Saria. He didn't feel like telling about his journey just yet, seeing as how they kept eyeing at his new belongings such as the Mirror Shield and Great Fairy's Sword. He noticed that the Know it all Brothers built a shed for Epona right next to his house, now that they had a horse living with them in the forest. That night, when Link was putting his belongings away, he noticed he was missing the transformation masks. As he laid on his bed staring at the ceiling, he wondered if the masks just vanished from his inventory, and the souls trapped inside finally moved on. Link hoped this is what happened, for he had a feeling he would never find the answer to the strange disappearance of the masks.
The next morning, Link decided to tell the Kokiri all about his adventures in Termina. They all circled around him as he told them the greatest story they have ever heard. A story full of adventure, romance, sadness, and frightening moments. But the one thing that startled them all was the story about Tingle. For days, they were worried that a middle aged man dressed in a weird suit would appear in their village one day and inform them that he has found his people. Even Mido was impressed with Link's stories on his travels. Later that night, when the Kokiri were playing outside, Link was inside hitting down his thoughts in a journal. He didn't want his adventure to be forgotten. He wrote about everyone he's met. He wanted Hyrule to know about them.
Link vented to Saria about how despite returning to his childhood, he just can't return to being a kid again despite being eleven. He mentioned how he grew up too quickly, and that he had a lot of weight on his shoulders with the responsibility of keeping a peaceful era. Saria gave him a hug, telling him that she'll support him no matter what. She'll miss the days when they would play hide and seek, and tag, but will honor the righteous decisions he will tackle as he moves forward. He decided to continue living in Kokiri Forest with the children, the closest he's ever had to a family.
To unwind, Link would play games in Castle Town with Malon and Zelda, whose father trusted her with Link whenever she was away from the castle. No matter what, she always beat the two at bombchu bowling. Link then walked by the Happy Mask Shop, and noticed how it was empty. A little girl then informed Link that the shop hasn't been open in days. Link kept wondering who that mysterious mask salesman was.
Link decided it was best to move on from Navi for now. Once in a while, he would search for some answers, only to not find anything. He had to focus on his own life. He had a feeling that as much as she loved him, she wouldn't want him to suffer over her. Maybe she would return one day, and he could reintroduce her to Zelda. For now, he decided to focus on one of his goals in life. To become a knight of Hyrule, and protect the people that he loves dearly.
