Chapter 3: Ghosts and Tent
That night, Rubble, Skye, Rocky, and Zuma all slept in a tent in the backyard, while Rubble watched Marshall through binoculars. After him was Skye, Zuma, then Rocky. So far, Marshal was just sleeping in his pup house.
Hours passed by as the pups took turns sleeping and watching. That is until they were switching from Rocky to Rubble; in that time, Marshall began to sleepwalk. Once Rubble got up, he looked through the binoculars to see Marshall gone.
"Guys! Wake up! Marshall's gone!" Rubble said, causing the other pups to wake up.
"Let's see ... Rubble's right!" Rocky ommented upon looking through the binoculars.
"Are you sure he didn't just get up to go to the bathroom?" Skye asked, slightly rolling her eyes. Rocky, Rubble, and Zuma just shrugged. Still, Marshall wasn't in his pup house.
"What about The Lookout? Let me see," Zuma offered as he left the group to go check inside. The brown Labrador searched the bottom floor, top floor, and where the pups got their equipment on. Nothing.
Unbeknownst to the pups, Marshall was indeed sleepwalking. However, he managed to sleepwalk towards the clothesline. As he sleepwalked through the laundry, two big white sheets fell on top of him, covering him from head to paw. The Dally didn't notice however as he kept sleepwalking, now looking like a ghost.
Zuma decided no Marshall was enoufh to convince him his friend wasn't inside, so he ran back outside to tell the others.
"Well, no Mawshall. Better get back - Ahhhhh!" Zuma said before noticing the 'ghost' walk towards him. Zuma froze in fear before deciding to go tell the others that he had found the 'ghost'.
"Pups! Ghost!" Zuma said as he ran away from the ghost, and back to the others. Zuma ran back to where his friends were, shaking as he stopped running.
"Woah, Zuma! You're shaking!" Skye said, now concerned for her friend.
"Pups! I just saw the ghost! It's coming this way!" Zuma said, still scared at what he saw. The three other pups looked too before gasping in fear. Sure enough, the 'ghost' approached them. The pup whined with fear.
"Wait a minute," Skye said before moving forwards. She remembered the similar situation happening just the other night, and realized they probably were getting scared for nothing. Skye walked up to the ghost as it approached them.
"Guys, it's okay. It's just Marshall sleepwalking under a bed sheet. See?" Skye said before taking off the bed sheet. What she didn't know however was that since Marshall was stuck under two bed sheets, he still looked like a ghost after Skye took one sheet off.
"S-Skye, it's still there!" Rocky said nervously. Skye looked bavk expecting to see Marshall, but the ghost was still there.
"Ahhhhhh! Ghost!" Skye exclaimed in fright before running back to the group. The ghost still coming towards them.
"What do we do?!" Rubble asked, clearly scared about the situation they were in.
"The tent! Quick!" Rocky suggested. The four pups then ran inside the tent and zipped up the opening. The ghost was only one outside the tent now.
"Phew! We're in the tent. We should be safe from the ghost hewe," Zuma said in relief. The other pups also sighed in relief.
Unbeknownst to them however, the 'ghost' wondered around the tent, and began to accidentally trip, pulling the tent poles out in the process.
"Ah! What's happening?!" Rubble exclaimed as one corner of the tent began to cave in.
"The ghost is making the tent collapse! We need to get out of here before the tent falls on us!" Skye commented just as another corner of the tent fell inward.
"Quick! Let's get out!" Rocky said going over to the tent flap. The other pups joined him just as a third corner of the tent caved in. Rocky unzipped the tent flap and opened it.
"Let's get outta - AHHHH!" Rocky said before he screamed. The ghost was standing right in front of the tent flap, blocking their path.
"AHHHHHHHHH!" Rocky, Skye, Rubble and Zuma screamed as the ghost walked into the tent. As they ran away however, the last tent pole fell from outside, making the whole tent coollapse on top of everyone!
"Ahhhh! We're stuck under the tent with the ghost!" Rubble exclaimed in fright.
"I can't see! It's dark!" Skye commented. Suddenly, Rocky remembered something.
"Hold on. I got a flashlight!" Rocky said as he grabbed a nearby flashlight with his mouth, and shined it around.
"Better. Now we can - AHHHHH!" Zuma replied before screaming. The light from the flashlight shined on the ghost as it moved towards them.
"GHOST! AHHHHHHHHH!!" the four pups screamed as they all ran away from the 'ghost', getting lost in the collapsed tent in the process.
"AHHHHHH!!! HELP!" the pups all screamed as they flailed about, struggling to get out of the tent, and away from the ghost at the same time.
Ryder woke up slowly as he thought he heard screams. Screams that sounded like -
"Pups!" Ryder exclaimed, recognizing the screams. The boy went down the elevator, and ran outside. Soon, he noticed a collapsed tent with lumps in the tent, trashing and moving about.
"Pups! Hang on! I'm coming!" Ryder said as he ran towards the tent his pups were trapped in. Unfortunately, Ryder didn't notice the bed sheet on the ground, before tripping over it.
"Oof!" Ryder said, tripping over the sheet before landing on the ground. The sheet flew forwards, landing on top of him. Ryder got up, but was now completely covered up in the bed sheet.
"Huh? Hey! I can't see! Ooooh!" Ryder said as he tried getting out of the bed sheet, realizing he couldn't due to it being bigger than him. The sheet-covered Ryder fumbled around under the sheet, as he wonders over to the tent. As he did though, the sheet-covered Marshall managed to wonder over to the tent flap and crawl out before sleepwalking away. Ryder tripped on the shget again, and tried to feel his way around. Ryder found the tent flap and crawled into the collapsed tent, despite being covered up under the bed sheet.
"Where's the ghost?! Is it gone?" Rubble asked in fright. It didn't help that he and the others were trapped in a dark tent that had fallen on them.
"Let me see," Rocky replied before looking with the flashlight. Unfortunately, the sheet-covered Ryder wondered about mumbling in the tent, trying to get out of the sheet. Rocky heard the noises snd apprehensively shined the flashlight towards the noises. What he saw was another ghost, but bigger and with arms.
"AHHHHHHH! ANOTHER GHOST!" Rocky screamed before running away. The other pups heard and reacted the same way. They screamed and ran around, afraid of a second ghost being in the tent. They managed to run into the ghost at times however, which only spooked them even more.
Eventually, despite the second ghost, and running around under a collapsed tent, the spooked pups managed to one by one get out of the tent.
"That was scary!" Skye said, upon exiting the tent. The other pups joined her.
"G-G-Ghosts! Wubble you were wight! I'm sowwy fow doubting you" Zuma apologized, shaking.
"Well, at least we're out of the tent, and away from -" Rocky began until he got interrupted.
"Oooooh! Mmmmmm!" came the mumbles of the ghost as it emerged from the tent.
"AHHHHHHH! GHOST!!!" the four pups screamed in terror. The ghost flailed it's arms around before a familiar voice spoke.
"I'm not a ghost, pups! It's ... me!" Ryder said before pulling the sheet off.
"Ryder!" the pups exclaimed with joy before tacklingthe boy in a hug. Ryder hugged them back before getting up.
"Pups? What happened? I heard you screaming and came to help you out of the tent. Until I got stuck under this sheet," Ryder said.
"Sorry. We wewe twying to see if Mawshall was a ghost. Then we saw the ghost, wan into our tent, and aftew the tent fell on us, and seeing the ghost in the tent ... we panicked. Then we saw YOU as a ghost, and we got even mowe scawed" Zuma explained."I'm sorry for accidentally scaring you pups. I just heard screaming, and wanted to make sure everyone was okay. Also,, looks like Marshall's not a ghost. Just sleeping," Ryder replied.
"Huh?" Zums, Skye, Rocky, and Rubble all said before looking over at Marshall's fire truck house; sure enough, Marshall was asleep in his pup house. They then turned back to Ryder.
"We forgive you Ryder. But we really did see Marshall as a ghost!" Skye responded.
"Mostly likely Marshall sleepwalking under a bed sheet again. Goodnight pups. Oh, and you'll have to put the tent back up!" Ryder replied before petting the pups, and walking away to put away the bed sheet.
"Ah pup treats! Bed sheet Marshall again?!" Rubble said in disappointment.
"Don't worry Rubble. Maybe tomorrow night will be better for our ghost hunt," Skye said, trying to stay positive. Rubble nodded.
The fours pups then put their tent back up, and went to sleep in it.
Hopefully they'd have better luck the next night.
