Chapter 6: Clean Up and Relaxing
(A * mark means the situation is a dream)
Bubbles filled the tubs as the five pups sat in purple tubs filed with warm water and shampoo. Katie worked as she scrubbed each pup to get the sticky substance off their fur. Luckily, Rocky's fur wasn't covered in thick stickiness, so he finished first, much to the mixed breed's relief.
"Finally! So much better!" Rocky declared as he got dried off with a towel, then shook the water off his fur. Katie giggled.
"So how did you pups get all sticky? Did you have an eating contest or something?" Katie asked the pups with a smile.
"Not quite. We were using up old food to eat, but then I decided to use the food as traps. Unfortunately, the traps didn't work out as planned," Rocky explained.
"Yeah, you trapped us instead!" Skye commented with a giggle. Everyone giggled along with Skye, before Marshall realized something.
"So that's why I got covered in the green stuff. I think it was Jell-O. But, what were you catching Rocky?" Marshall said, turning to his friend.
Rocky froze as Marshall's question caught him off guard. They probably could ask Marshall about being a ghost, but it might be embarrassing while in front of Katie; the pet parlor was not only a public place, but Katie was also their friend. So it was best to chat in private.
"I was trying to catch an intruder. But for practice! You never know who will try to take something from us. So, I was trying to test out some ideas," Rocky told the dally pup. While Rocky didn't explain the real reason for the traps, he didn't exactly lie either.
"Oh, okay. That makes sense," Marshall replied as he thought about what Rocky said.
"Yeah, but his 'tests' got us covered in the sticky stuff!" Zuma added, smirking in a joking way.
"I'm sorry! I wasn't planning on catching all of you! I was testing to make sure the traps worked!" Rocky apologized sincerely.
"We forgive you Rocky. We know it was an accident... Okay, lots of accidents!" Rubble responded before laughing filled the room again. Rocky smiled, wagging his tail, accepting his friend's forgiveness.
It took a couple of hours to wash the pups, before everyone was free of the sticky results of Rocky's traps. After thanking Katie, and helping her clean, Rocky, Skye, Rubble, Zuma, and Marshall drove back to The Lookout. Upon parking their vehicles and walking inside however, the five pup's stomaches growled.
"I hear you're all hungry," Ryder guessed as he walked towards them, accompanied by Chase and Snowflake.
"Yes Ryder," all the pups answered, their stomaches growling to confirm. Ryder giggled.
"Well, let's eat dinner. Come on," Ryder told his pups before going to get dog bowls and food. Dinner was delicious, but uneventful, with dog food, boneless chicken, and veggies, plus strawberry ice cream for dessert. Afterwards, the group of friends relaxed by watching a funny movie before going to bed.
Rescues kept the next day busy. From saving Chickaletta and Alex, to cleaning Town Hall piled with leaves and branches, to finally helping clear traffic, and repairing some old traffic lights and signs, the PAW Patrol was on their paws and feet the whole day!
"Great job pups! Wow, that was quite the day!" Ryder complimented as the team walked inside The Lookout, the sun setting over the horizon.
"Thanks Ryder. This must have been one of our busiest days yet! Who knew lots of simple jobs would take so long to do!" Chase replied as he took in deep breaths. "Not that I'm complaining!"
"I just hope my vacuum isn't broken from all the leaves and stick I had to clean up! I might need a bigger vacuum for my Pup Pack!" Rocky mentioned before he plopped down on a green bean bag.
"Don't worry, I can make adjustments if your Pup Packs need them. Well, you pups can relax. You've earned it! Be back with dinner!" Ryder responded before he walked to the elevator, and went up to the top floor. The six pups all laid down on their signature colored bean bags, letting out exhausted sighs at the same time.
"Now...we...can...just...relax..." Marshall commented before he yawned. His friends yawned in agreement. Soon, Ryder came down the elevator with food and water bowls filled up. The boy put the bowls down for his pups, before sitting down. The PAW Patrol pups happily accepted the food and water, enjoying the meal. Once they finished, Ryder took the bowls to the kitchen sink, and washed them, before returning.
"Well, you pups can chill for the rest of the night. I'm going to go organize some items in the garage. Let me know if you need me," Ryder told his pups, petting them on their heads, before going back to the elevator, and going down.
For the next several hours, the six pups relaxed while watching a calm, classic movie. However, due to how busy the day had been, some pups had fallen asleep; Marshall being one of them. Overall, everyone was having a wonderful time. Unknown to everyone however, things were about to get spooky.
It was twelve thirty at night when Marshall got up, sleepwalking around the inside of The Lookout. The dally wondered around his friends, before walking into the kitchen. Marshall grabbed a quick snack of green lime Jell-O, washed up, then walked over to the linen closet.
Marshall sleepily opened the door before tripping and bumping into the shelves. A big white sheet fell from the top shelf before covering Marshall. Marshall was slightly confused as he tried to shake the sheet off, causing the fabric to unravel more, and cover the dally pup completely. Uninterested by the sheet that covered him, the sleepwalking pup walked over to the elevator, and got inside. After getting to the top floor, the sheet covered dally walked to the slide and slid down, reaching the bottom within seconds.
"Aaaahooooo...Aaaahooooo" Marshall slightly snoozed as the sheet covered pup started to walk towards town.
*Tennis balls filled Chase's mind, as he dreamt of running after the bouncing balls of light green. He was about to beat his record of twenty four when he heard a voice.
"Chase! Chase wake up!" came a familiar voice in the distance. Chase waved his paw in his sleep, trying to focus on his task.
"Chase! Wake up! Chaaaassse?" the voice came, more urgent.*
"Not now! I almost got the ball!" Chase said as he kept dreaming.
"Chase! Wake up! It's an emergency!" Rubble's voice repeated before the German Shephard pup finally awoke.
"What is it, Rubble?" Chase asked as he slowly woke up, and yawned.
"Chase, Marshall is missing!" Rubble exclaimed urgently. Chase yawned again, before his eyes widened in shock.
"Wait...What?!"
