I hand Joey his water bottle and our gaze lands on each other when our hands touch, it feels like time has stopped

"Laurie I'm hungry", Brandon walks in and my gaze turns away from Joey

I turn around, "Huh?"

"I'm hungry", he repeats

I walk to the kitchen, "What do you want?"

"Hmm", he thinks,"A Sandwich?"

"Okay", I smile and grab the bread from the pantry.

I make his sandwich the way he likes it while he sits down at the table

Joey's POV: I don't know what I felt staring into Lauren's eyes but I definitely felt something

I wonder if she did too...

I sit down on the couch and wait for her to finish making Brandon's sandwich, she looks so beautiful, I really want to get to know her better

She seems so innocent and mysterious, I like that about her, I've had crushes on other girls before but they never got me feeling like this, they had no personality

We barely know each other and we just met but it feels so right, it feels like if we are supposed to be together but something is holding us back

I just know she's different, I can see it in her eyes. I don't think I'll ever open up to her about my past because I don't want to hurt her, she'll think I'll do the same to her

She will think I'm a jerk and I don't want her to see that version of me that I'm trying to leave behind

I want to deny my feelings for her because I'm scared of rejection, I've played and hurt other girls before because I couldn't commit and only wanted pleasure

But with Lauren, it could be different

End of POV

I finish making Brandon's sandwich and hand it to him, "Here"

He grabs the plate from my hand and takes a bite,"Thank you"

I laugh, "no problem"

I spot Joey sitting on the couch and walk towards him, it gets awkward until I break the silence

"I have to get started on homework...do you mind if we work on it together here?", I ask.

"that's fine with me", he answers and I grab my backpack from the couch

He takes out his homework and then Brandon walks in to annoy us, well me because Joey doesn't mind

"What are you guys doing?", he asks to purposefully annoy me

I roll my eyes,"Brandon, please stop bothering us, we're trying to do our homework, now go somewhere else"

"Are you guys dating?", he grins

My eyes widen, "What? No, He's just a friend, right Joey?"

I look at Joey and wait for his response

"Yeah, we're just friends Brandon", he answers

Brandon grins again
