We arrived at Crown Peak, everything was silent. The Nether must have a big influence here. Wither skeletons patrolled the streets and Withers flew over head. My sword clashed against a Wither skeletons, then I hit it and shattered it, its bones crashing to the ground. I quickly glanced over at Gallaniara, she had black bones littering the ground around her.
"How do you kill these things!?" Kayla yelled over the noise of the battle raging around us. I almost cracked up laughing at her question.
"Hit them! Don't stab them!" I yelled back. I killed another Wither skeleton.
"We're nearing a Nether portal! Get ready!" An officer shouted. I ran forward in front of the group and cut through Wither skeletons and normal skeletons, getting closer to the Nether portal. Gallaniara came up next to me and helped me cut down the enemies.

We were getting closer and closer to the portal. The concentration of Wither skeletons and skeletons getting denser. Gallaniara was separated from me. I knew she could hold her own ground against Wither skeletons. I slashed down more and more Wither skeletons, my arm seemingly not getting tired. The soldiers behind me were getting a path to the Nether portal cleared by me, with few of them actually helping.

I felt something scratch along my back. Quickly whipping around, I knocked the head off of a Wither skeleton. I didn't know how deep the cut was, nor was I bothered by it.
"Uh, miss? You're bleeding. Not badly, but I thought I should tell you," a soldier said to me. I nodded in acknowledgment and hacked down more Wither skeletons. Another soldier ran up to me.
"Gallaniara, she.. I don't know how to say this. She's alone, the rest of the group that went with her killed and she's asking for you," the soldier said. I cut down the Wither skeleton I was fighting and ran towards the place I last saw Gallaniara.

I looked around for what seemed like hours, but it was only a couple of minutes. I shouted out her name over and over again, but I got no response. I should've asked that soldier for directions. I kept on looking around and calling out her name for a few minutes, then returned to my group. They had found Gallaniara.
She had cuts and bruises, but that was nothing compared to the deep gash in her chest. She was bleeding heavily out of it. I ran over to her and kneeled beside her. Gallaniara was still awake.
"Abalyes, look out for Kayla for me, would ya?" She said with a weak smile. I started fishing around in my inventory for a med-kit. Gallaniara knew what I was doing. "Don't," she put a hand on my arm, "you can't save me." I felt my eyes mist over. I held the hand she had put on my arm.
"I'll look out for Kayla," I eventually said. She smiled again and weakly squeezed my hand. I diverted my attention from her hand and looked at her markings. The once vibrant red-orange markings had faded and were ever-so-slowly getting darker.
"I don't want to lose you," I whispered, tears starting to run down my cheeks.
"I'll always be with you, and you know that," Gallaniara said quietly. Her markings were getting darker. The grip she had on my hand was getting weaker.
"Gallaniara, I don't think I ever got the chance to say what you are to me. You're like a sister I never had." I looked Gallaniara in the eyes and a tear rolled out of hers. I knew she wanted to say the same thing to me. I closed my eyes as I felt her hand slip out of mine. I slowly opened my eyes as her Songs materialized beside her. Hot tears were running down my cheeks uncontrollably. I slowly picked up all of her Songs and put them in my inventory and stayed in the same place I was in, next to Gallaniara.

I don't know how long I was in that spot next to Gallaniara for. The next thing I knew was Senn, his markings red, came up to me and helped me put Gallaniara's body onto the horse he was leading.
"I'm meeting with the masters, hopefully the Voltaris can be accepted," he said. I noticed he was looking quite upset.
"What's wrong?" I asked. He hesitated before replying.
"Ingressus is dead. The rest of the Voltaris are dead. Kayla and I are half Voltaris. You are the last surviving pure-blooded Voltaris." The news hit me like a wave. I was the last pure-blooded Voltaris? How had this happened?

We were silent as we made our way to the edge of Crown Peak to meet with the surviving Knights of Ardonia. Kayla was there, injured and leaning on her sword, looking not overly happy, but was expecting her mother to be with me.
"Where's Mum?" She asked when I approached her. I really didn't want to answer her question, but I knew I had to.
"Gallaniara.. she's," my voice broke,"she's gone." I felt the tears roll down my cheeks again. Kayla was frozen with shock. I hugged her close and she melted down in my arms. First her father, and now her mother. How could this get any worse for her? Losing me? I eventually gave into the grief again, and cried as I held Kayla in my arms.
