Into You Chapter 2 - Give It To Me
A week had gone by, I had gotten used to my job, I hadn't explored Seattle much, but it had only been seven days so I decided it didn't matter, it wasn't going anywhere. Nothing suspicious had happened, I figured it was just a one-time thing, considering there had been absolutely no reports on any suspicious activity surrounding my apartment complex or the city in general. I rolled out of bed, flicking through outfits in my closet before deciding on a pair of loose fit mom jeans, buttoning them over a plain navy T with a singular image of Pluto surrounded by milk dotted stars. My hair was tied into space buns, thin wisps of hair giving them more volume as well as two thicker strands framing my face. After lacing up my chunky black combat boots I made my lunch, tucking the cucumber slices and ruby apple into my miniature backpack, followed by a carton of orange juice. "Hello? Is this Mrs Jules?" I spoke through the phone, gaining her cheery response. "I'm running slightly late; I'll be there in a few minutes." She assured me it was alright so I rubbed the worry from my mind and continued on my path. Hastily, I made my way into the store, quickly placing my bag in the locker under the desk before organising the new stock. I finished just in time, flipping the sign at the door.
I flicked at the pages of a random comic I had grabbed on my walk back from the desk, it made absolutely no sense – something about aliens and traitors, but I tried my best to enjoy it anyway. My hands tapped to a random beat I had thought up in my head, I had to admit, there wasn't much to do when no customers where around. Once again, my eyes cornered the small topaz fish, tipping a few fishcakes into its bowl was a daily routine for me as I waited around. I took a breath, I had great pay, I barely had to do anything, but this wasn't exactly what I wanted in life. The reason I came to Seattle was to become my one dream, the thing I had been burning for since I was born. I wanted to be a singer. As the closing time came around, I swirled through the busy streets, noticing an open microphone placed right near a crowd of people, I shut my eyes, propelling myself forward as I blinked harshly at the crowd. I had never sung in front of anyone other than my friends, my family had always been judgemental, picking at every piece of me until they thought I had nothing left, they didn't think I was good enough but now I had the chance to prove them wrong, to show them that doing twice as much work cancelled out the noise of being the one they loved the least, I practised in my room night and day, writing songs here and there as I used only my own instrument as my weapon, but then, as I was staring into the bright eyes of the crowd, all fears crept into something else, a cool rush of adrenaline and before I knew it I was pouring out everything I had, eyes closed as I sang away my blues.
Only a few minutes, but it took me to another world, my heart was racing, eyes astounded as a smile crept on my face. Loud claps and bright beams were all being thrown my way, I thanked everyone, making my way back through the crowd until I felt a hand on my shoulder. "please my dear, you have a gift, please don't let it go to waste. There's room at the top if you have the perseverance to get there." I nodded, feeling teary-eyed as I looked the aged woman in her big green eyes, wrinkles making up her face as she hummed sweetly despite the spaces in her teeth. "Thank you." I parted ways, feeling inspired, I wanted to run and yell, scream from the top of my lungs as I smiled uncontrollably, parting through the midnight sky. I rubbed at my bear arms, wondering why I didn't bring a coat as the weather had become insanely cold, my icy breath pattered out before me as I felt my exposed skin gather Goosebumps.
"Well if it isn't stripes, or should I say, Pluto?" I stopped in my tracks, my heart relapsing over the handsome stranger I was sure was just a dream. His eyes flickered from my T-shirt and then back to me, a smirk fumbling onto his lips as he ran a hand through his hair, fingerless gloves suited him so well. "Here; take my jacket, you look ice cold." I shook my head despite him wrapping it around me, it smelt dark and heavy, the scent trailing through my airways made my eyelids flutter slightly. "You weren't bad out there you know." He began walking, tilting his head back slightly as I followed him quickly, "you saw me singing?" he nodded, slowing his long legs slightly so I could catch up. "yep, I guess you could say music is my forte, it's something I enjoy, you know?" I nodded, eyes on the ground as I watched our feet travelling together. "So, you hungry?" the corners of his lips almost formed a pout as they dented into his soft dumpling-like cheeks, "I guess so." He snapped a singular nod, taking me into a small food place as we sat down.
"Yo Kook, get me the usual and make it double this time, I guess you could say I got company." He looked down onto his hands, smiling at them slightly as an agreeing mumble travelled from what seemed to be the kitchen. "So, what are the odds I caught you on this night we're sharing Pluto?" his hands clutched behind his head as he steered his gaze into mine. "well, I'm new in town and I don't know any places so I found an open mic and sung and then there you were." I couldn't help but smile as he chuckled, everything he did sounded almost cold and desolate, but it drew me into him even more, the carelessness he seemed to hold, it suited him well. "Here you are Yoongs, you owe me a new Track for this." He nodded, pulling out a piece of folded paper and handing it over to the brown-haired boy. "You didn't think I'd come empty-handed, did you? Here are the lyrics, I'll send you a link to the music later." I looked up, now facing the boy as he flashed me a smile, ruffling his chestnut locks slightly. "I'm Jungkook, a friend of your boyfriend's."
"Shut your mouth or I'll fill that black hole in your brain with those over-saturated banana clumps you adore so much." Jungkook rolled his eyes, sighing as he tapped Yoongi on the head, causing him to shoot Jungkook a lethal, but pretty smile. "I'll let that slide for your date, but next time, you won't be so lucky, old man." With that he burst into a fit of laughter, returning to the kitchen with a whistle as Yoongi shook his head. "Don't mind him, he's my best friend around here, seriously dumb, but I love the kid." I nodded, finding their friendship sweet as I smiled. We tucked into our food in no time, Yoongi held up a lamb skewer, letting me bite down on the delicious flavour as I pulled it off of the stick, doing the same for him. "come on!" he squinted, watching me pull it away as I teased him. "no, I don't trust you." I pleaded, "come on, I promise!" he huffed, opening his mouth once again before I shook my finger. "Do something cute or no food for you." He furrowed his brows before giving in, poking his cheek with a blank expression on his face before finally forcing a smile. "very good." I tapped his lip with the stick gently, letting him take his prize. The night came to a fulfilling end, we made our way out of the shop, waving goodbye to his friend as we loomed through the glowing streets, on route back to my apartment. "Goodnight Yoongi." I whispered, shivering slightly from the cool air hitting my cheeks. "See you around Pluto." He grinned turning on his heel as he flounced on into the night, the sound of heavy leather boots disappearing with his broad shadow. I made my way upstairs and into my apartment, careful to lock the door before changing into my pyjamas and snuggling up under my covers, falling into a deep slumber accompanied by the sound of soft music I had left to disperse from my phone.
