Sakura felt this would be the right time to let Meilin know what happened between Tomoyo and her. She lied down on her back and looked up at the ceiling. She could see fine cracks on the wall even though the dim light of the lamp.

"This happened in college... At the end of first year I think. At that point of time, Tomoyo and I would still meet as much as we could... Our schedules didn't really match... And her college was in Tokyo... But still we tried to meet up once a month..."

Meilin listened to Sakura's story with her face resting on her palm.

"Then one day, we went out to shop and to treat ourselves, and for some reason Tomoyo seemed very indifferent... It seemed as if she was going through something tumultuous."

"Tomoyo looked troubled? That's weird. Throughout school she never let people see what she's going through. She always put up that gentle smile." Meilin reasoned.

"I don't know why, but that day I could see so many emotions flashing in her eyes. When I pestered her to tell me what's wrong she asked me if I ever 'guessed'."

Tomoyo spoke in a soft voice, "Did you ever guess, Sakura?" Her soft bangs covered her expression as she looked down at her clenched hands.

Sakura looked at Tomoyo with a puzzled face. Her hair was still short at that point of time. She waited for Tomoyo to explain.

Tomoyo didn't look up from the ground as she spoke, "So you never thought about me did you?"

"Tomoyo, what are you saying? Ofcourse I care about you." Sakura reached out her hand on the table towards Tomoyo. The elegant bird charm Tomoyo had given let out a glint on Sakura's wrist.
