"So why don't you leave me a-lone," I sang/screamed. The crowd cheered. I took a few breaths. I felt the sweat drip from my forehead and the bright lights shine on my face. I went up to the mic stand.
"This next song is our last of the show... hell, it's the last of the tour... and it goes to an old friend I made in college. This song is called... Jersey Boy," I told the crowd. They all yelled. I love our fans.
The intro started and I got ready to sing... sing the words to the song that I wrote about him and about my love for him... the love he would never know I had... and still have.
"That hazel eyed boy... the genius... the one that made me see...... but you'll never know... how much you mean... how much you mean to me... yeEaAh... you're an illustrator... you drew my dreams... the dream of you and me... you're a Jersey Boy... a JErsEY BOI," I sang the chorus.
Soon the guitar solo started. I began to cry as I thought of the last things I was about to sing, "I'm so sorry... that I never wrote back... that," I dropped to my knees and broke into a sob but kept singing clearly, "the last words were goodbye... cause I love you... and you'll never know... I bet you think the fame took me but no...... I love you, Jersey Boy... Now let me tell you... I got so busy... and I broke my own heart... we haven't talked... we haven't talked in years... and let me tell you... I'm still in love with that jersey boy..."
The song was almost over and I had no more singing to do so I covered my face to cry more. The crowd cheered. I got up. We all bowed, except for our drummer Lucy.
"Goodnight New York... We love you!" We all walk off stage. Ending our world tour. Tonight I go back to my apartment... go back to being alone... still listening to music to help me fall asleep... still thinking about him.
