...

She stayed silent on the other end for a few moments. Mostly in disbelief but also because she didn't know what to say. It had been weeks since she heard his voice. They both agreed that they would give the space that the other needed to heal from such a traumatic move and end of relationship.

It saddened her how his voice became unrecognizable to her. He was once her best friend, and now he seems to be just a stranger to her.

"Rose?" He said again and then asked, "You there?"

Rose forced herself back into reality, inhaling sharply before responding.

"I'm here."

"Oh good, the reception is kind of hit or miss where I am." Isaac sighed, mainly in relief for Rose responding.

He had missed her voice terribly. And as much as he wished he had called more often, and sooner for that matter, he didn't for the sake of Rose. He just wanted her to heal. He wanted her to be happy. Little did he know that she was the exact opposite of what he wanted, especially with everything going on.

"What's up?" He asked, a little too casually for Rose's liking.

"What's up?" She repeated her right eye twitching slightly. Almost dumbfounded by his question.

"Yeah, like what's going on?"

Rose was utterly speechless at the stupidity and pure ignorance that was coming from the other line. Her jaw dropped, a million things came to her mind to which she could reply.

"You ignore my calls and texts for weeks, and now you want to know what's going on?" Rose spoke very carefully into the phone, not letting her temper, which was already boiling, get the best of her.

"Why'd you call Isaac?" Rose cut to the chase, not wanting to deal with this small talk. At this point, and as much as she hates to say it, she was wasting time with this conversation.

Isaac, stunned by the sharp response, swallowed the bitterness of her words. He had honestly missed her, but knew that saying that wouldn't help anyone with moving on.

"Just checking in, seeing how you were doing," Isaac responded casually, scratching the back of his neck, trying to hide the hurt that he had felt.

Rose pursed her lips together, trying not to let her temper get the best of her. She didn't want to be short or rude to him, seeing how this was their first conversation since the move, but at the same time she really didn't understand where this was coming from, and Isaac should've known she wouldn't have the patience for this.

"Didn't realize you still cared about me seeing as how you were ignoring me for weeks since you moved Isaac." She stated bluntly.

Isaac was starting to realize that calling might have been a mistake. That maybe it would have been best if they just continued to ignore each other. But deep down they knew that's not what they wanted to do.

"I was doing what's best for you," Isaac sighed.

"What's best for me?" Rose repeated in a mocking way, followed by a scoff. "I hope France is treating you well Isaac, because ever since you left Beacon Hills everything has gone wrong."

Isaac didn't even get a chance to respond before she began yelling at him even more.

"You really want to know how I've been Isaac?" Rose asked, her eyes narrowing as her grip on the phone grew tighter. "My brother disappeared days after you left. I was left alone with no clue where Derek had gone. So if you really want to know how I've been it's real bad." Rose took a few deep breaths, trying to stop herself from crying.
