Hey everyone! I was aiming for as little A/Ns as possible, but this one is needed. I am so sorry for how late this is. I haven't had the time or motivation for chapters, so I've been writing it slowly.
I originally wasn't planning on putting this fic to Wattpad until it was completed, but I was pressured into it by my ex, who said she wanted to read this (even though she wasn't and isn't a Killjoy). I told her to read from my Word Document, but she wanted it uploaded. And yes, Midnight Marauder is her Killjoy, and I am basing them off of each other, but don't trash on the character, please.
The way I write this is, because I was originally planning on leaving publishing this fic until it was finished, I have a couple of chapters written, but not edited, every time I upload. Currently I'm on chapter 6, but there are 5 lines and a word written for that.
Tell me of any grammar errors you see :D
Now, without further ado, here is the chapter~
"Where do we start?" I asked as I got on my bike. I had my travel backpack on, filled with extra supplies. I had an old med-kit, some Power Pups, two bottles of water and some spare clothes. We didn't know her state, and I don't want to come un-prepared.
"Zone Two? I think she might've gotten to the outskirts at least by now, hopefully..." Midnight replied, unsure of her answer, probably wishing this girl was strong enough for the journey. Zone 1 was a hot spot for Draculoids, it's closest to Battery City and they (surprise surprise) don't want us there.
I just agreed, and we set off.
I don't know exactly how long it took for us to get to the picket fence between Zone 1 and 2, but it felt longer than it should. That feeling when you're impatient or bored, when you're waiting for something to happen, or when you're worried. I was anxious to say the least, this girl could be seriously injured or in a bad state. We needed to help in any way we could.
We reached the area where the first and second Zones meet and start to look around. After talking about plans for a couple of minutes, the two of us decided on splitting up and meeting back in about half an hour. I kissed her cheek and smiled as we said our quick goodbyes.
Turning on the radio (for music and updates from Newsagogo), I set off to find Crystal Dove.
Sand flew up from behind my bike as I raced around, looking for the mysterious girl. My brain was filled with questions, eating away at any other thoughts.
'Who is this girl?'
'Is she hurt?'
'Is she dead?"
I was worried about her. She could be completely fine for all I know, and that's all that comforted me. My radio was playing, although it was quiet with the background noise of my bike.
After a little while, I reached my destination. Gazing upon it, I saw the cramped, worn building that many Killjoys are grateful for. A shelter for those who have just escaped the city, but also a meet-up spot for those who are just about to enter the city once more. Many use it just before raids or whatever reason they'd be in the city.
I stepped into the room, only to be faced with a young girl on the floor. All over her body she had cuts and bruises, seemingly nothing major; it was the kind of injuries that look bad, but you know they're not. City clothes covered her skin: a light grey cardigan over a white shirt, paired with black pants. She'll overheat, so we'll need to find her something else to wear soon. Short, dark brown hair was tied behind her head to keep it from falling in her eyes. Slow breaths entered and escaped her mouth, assuring me she was alive still.
