Chapter 3: Who Are You?

Peridot's P.O.V:

We stayed in silence for a few minutes. I looked at him and analyzed his changes.

He became taller and his neck is slightly visible now. His voice became deeper due to puberty, I guess? He's wearing a pink jacket with a black T-shirt underneath.

I decided to break the silence. "So, you really don't remember me?"

He looked at me from head to toe and shook his head. "No," he looked at my chest, "but why do you have a star shape on your chest?"

I looked at my chest. "This happened 2 years ago and it means that I'm a member of the Crystal Gems,” I said proudly with my chest puffed. I searched for an reaction on his face, but all I recieved was a weird stare.

"Yeah, not buying it," he flicked his hand dismissively. "Just wait until the gems find out you kidnapped me."

"We didn't– argh!" I scratched my hair out of annoyance. "And, you know..." I started and felt my face getting hot. Wow, I haven't felt this in a long time.

"You and I were like..."

"Like?"

"You know..."

"What?"

"L-Lovers?"

He looked at me with his jaw dropped and brows furrowed. "Y-You're out of your mind," he chuckled. "You lost it, and maybe I'm being crazy too, because..."

I raised my eyebrow. "I'm not 'out of my mind.'"

"Because I felt like I've seen you before..." His whole body calmed down, he wasn't tense anymore.

I looked at him. Could he possibly remember?

"Or maybe you did something to my brain, I dunno," he shrugged and he's back to his defensive self. I furrowed my brows.

We heard an explosion coming from the temple. "W-What was that?!" He screamed and summoned his shield. "You guys blew my house up!"

"We didn't!"

I saw Lapis flying away with another gem grabbing on her ankle. I narrowed my eyes, and I was utterly shocked at what I saw—Jasper.

I looked around for a metal, and I saw hammers and other tools. I immediately controlled them using telekinesis and charged it towards Jasper.

"That was my dad's!"

I ignored him and I saw that I pierced her body with some tools. I heard her shriek. She didn't let go of Lapis' ankle though. Seconds later, she managed to bring Lapis down to the ground.

"Go! Bring her down!" Steven cheered.

"W-Why are you cheering?!"

"She's saving me from you guys," he proudly replied. No, Steven, it's the other way around.

Jasper summoned her helmet and was about to pound Lapis down. I started running towards them. "Stoooppp!!!"

I paused in my tracks when a something caught my foot. I looked down and saw a whip around it. I tried to take it off. "H-Hey!"

An explosion happened at where Jasper and Lapis were standing and I covered my head. I looked behind to see who caught me.

"Peri?! I-Is that you?!"

"Amethyst!" I exclaimed and hugged her. "I'm so glad you recognized me!"

"I miss you too, but there is something more important than that..." She looked at the smokes from the explosion. "How'd Jasper get outta the bubble?"

I looked at Steven with an annoyed face. "Ask him."

She looked at Steven, who was rubbing his nape, then she looked at me. "Y-You guys are reunited?"

"We would've actually reunited if he remembers me." I looked down, but this wasn't time to be feeling depressed. The smoke cleared up.

I saw two familiar gems—Garnet and Pearl. They're fighting Jasper who's being out of control.

Amethyst pulled her whip and used it to pull Lapis back to us. She's knocked out from either Jasper or Garnet and Pearl's sudden entrance.

"I'm helping them. Peri, take care of them!" She instructed and headed to the battle. I looked at both Lapis and Steven. He looks even more confused now.

"Hey, aren't you going to help them?" I asked. Steven immediately shook his head.

"They told me not to fight unless they told me to," he said, "apparently it's because of some accident that they're too overprotective. Tsk."

I sat beside him even though it's weird to be casually sitting here while a fierce battle is happening right in front of us.

"You know," I began, "the past you wouldn't listen and just join them in the fight."

"Past me? What are you talking about?" He asked.

"Trust me, I'm telling the truth," I shrugged playfully to tease him, and showed him a serious face of mine. "You're confused right now, but after this, I'm explaining everything to you."

He thought for a few minutes and stood up. Then, he sighed.

"Okay, then, my supposed 'lover.'"
