Chapter 2: Memories

Peridot's P.O.V:

I couldn't believe my eyes.

He's standing there, with a surprised expression on his face. Is he happy to see me? I thought, but the one thing I needed to think about is..

Does he still love me?

Lapis looked like she was about to cry, she stepped in front of Steven and hugged him tightly. "I'm so glad you're okay!" She exclaimed and stopped hugging, but with her hands on his shoulders. "You do remember us, right?"

Steven hasn't said a word yet. Is he too shocked to say a word? I thought and I decided to speak up. "Steven, it's me, Peri-"

"Excuse me, but.. Who are you?"

Lapis put her hands down with arms on her side, and asked "Umm, what?"

Steven took a step back, ready to close the door. "I don't know you guys, are you from Homeworld or something?" He suddenly looked scared and angry, then he summoned his shield. "Pearl! Garnet! Amethyst!" He called for help.

"Steven....." I took a step forward, with my hands shaking. "Could it be... Did you lose your memories?"

"That could be the case.." Lapis stated and looked at him. "He's like a helpless boy again, seeing how he's panicking.."

Steven shot them a glance one last time and closed the door abruptly.

"Let's go after him!" Lapis opened the door and ran after Steven. "Hey, wait!"

Steven's P.O.V:

I kept running and running, thinking to myself: Who are these people? The gems warned me about other gems who are bad, and I should hide and wait until they get there after their missions..

Lost to my train of thoughts, I didn't know where I was going. I was suddenly stuck in the basement. When I looked up, there were bubbles with a gem in each bubble.

I remember Garnet telling me about The Burning Room after we got here two days ago. This is probably the place.

She told me not to visit this place. Now is an exception! I'm being visited by two gems I don't know!

I looked around, not knowing where I was going, and I suddenly tripped and touched a bubble. I panicked and stood up, looking down at the orange gem shard on my feet.

Garnet is going to kill me!

I stumbled back as it started to grow and form. I summoned my shield even when I was only taught basics in fighting.

The gem finally formed into a big figure with a long, messy white hair.

"I'm free.. I'm free! After a long time of being trapped, I'm finally free!" The gem looked happy, until it saw Steven's face. "You.."

It summoned its weapon which seems like a helmet. It's coming for me! I thought and stood up, with my shield being held in my shaking hands.

"You rebellious gems trapped me! You're all traitors to Homeworld!" It shouted at me and immediately dashed to me, trying to knock me out with its helmet.

I blocked it with my shield, but my arm started to hurt because of the impact. I decided to speak up, "Excuse me! I don't know who you are, and I don't remember anything about trapping gems in a bubble!"

The orange gem stood up straight and stopped going for me, with a wide smile on its face.

"You seem to have forgotten me, but nevermind. I, Jasper, am going to crush you-"

The gem's statement was cut off by spoon and forks hitting the gem's body, I turned around to see the green gem from earlier waving her hand. She's using telekinesis!

The taller blue gem appeared in front of me and summoned wings made out of water on her back. "I'll get you out of here." She said calmly and carried me out of the Burning Room.

The other gem immediately grabbed on to the blue gem's leg to carry herself out of the room.

"You both are so heavy...!" The blue gem quietly grunted and landed on the shore. She looked at me and said, "Look, an evil gem is inside your home right now. It seems like you lost your memories, but we were your friends.."

When she said 'friends,' I caught the blue gem cast a glance to the green gem. Is there something I don't know?

"I'm going in. Peridot, stay here with Steven." And she flew back to the temple.

I'm left alone with the green gem, known as Peridot.

Somehow, that name rings a bell.
