Night of fear

I wait for that killer to come
I listen for his growls
The growls he made when he massacred them all
He's scary when he prowls

It's dark now, and he could be anywhere
Could he be behind me?
Why did he come to kill?
Why couldn't he just leave us be?

Since I am unable to sleep
I get to stay up and fear for my life
I soon won't be able to watch over the forest
I hope the remaining fauna won't have much strife
