As I watch over the animals
The ones in my vicinity, anyway
I hear a loud bang in the distance
I'd recognize that bang any day
Whenever there's a bang nearby
Animals go missing from here
While I never actually saw what happens
I'm sure it's something to fear
I hear another bang
This one sounds even closer than the last
I can't turn around and see what's happening
But the banging alone leaves me aghast
The banging goes away
But it doesn't actually cease
I don't know what's causing the bang
But I know that it never brings peace
