Chapter 6
Peeta's P.O.V.
I just got off the phone with my dad. He and my brothers are in the bakery. I told them that I have to show them something, so they told me we'll have a dinner tonight. They got curious.
"Katniss", I shout.
"Yeah?" She calls as she dances down the stairs gracefully with Birdie walking after her.
"I think we have to go to my father, dad and our two clowns got way curious", I say.
Katniss giggles.
"That's what I love about them", she says.
"Who's your two clowns?" Birdie asks confused.
"Oh my two brothers", I say. "Ryan and Nate".
"Aah, are they clumsy?" She asks.
"No that would be this one right here", I say pointing at Katniss who giggles and nods. "No my brothers just foolish dumb idiots, but they're lovable and cares about their families".
"Ohh", Birdie says. "So I'm going to meet them today?"
"Yes, and your grandfather", I say.
"But by meeting Peeta you've basically met your grandfather and uncles as well", Katniss says. "They're copies of each other".
"Yeah but I'm not such a clown as Ryan and Nate", I say defending myself.
"No that's true", Katniss says. "When are we going?"
"They wanted us to be there at dinner", I say says.
"Do I have to go?" Birdie asks.
"Yes you have to go", Katniss says.
Birdie sighs and shoots Katniss a look of disapproval. She really hates us doesn't she? It's heartbreaking to see that she actually hates us.
"It isn't going to be that bad", I assure her.
"And how do you know? Did you just get thrown into a family that threw you out thirteen years ago?" Birdie snaps at me.
Okay I deserved that, I'll admit that. I just hope she won't be like this all the time.
"I hate that I have your eyes!" Birdie bursts out suddenly. "And I hate that I look like you!" She point at Katniss. "I hate that people can see that you are my parents! When I was little I didn't know anything and I would wonder if I got kidnapped from two loving parents, if I were alike you in some ways, turns out I did not get kidnapped".
"Birdie don't talk like that", Katniss says. "That's awful".
"But giving up your baby is not?" Birdie asks with a poisonous voice.
Katniss is just about to answer when the door opens and Finnick walks in with Annie.
She's very big. She a day over her due date and is very frustrated about that.
"Oh my god it's true", Annie says and stops in her moves when she sees Birdie. "It's really true, I thought Finnick was mocking me or something".
Annie took it just as hard as me when we gave Birdie away. She never really approved of mine and Katniss decision but she also knew that there was no way for us to keep her. The same with Katniss, so we had all these mixed feelings about it. Finnick was also sad about it, I ... I was sad but I was convinced it was the best way. I told them that I couldn't bring a baby into my life with a mother who beat the crap out of me every day. And Katniss could barely feet Prim and herself, even with my help, how could she take care of a baby? Her mother was still in her sever depression, she didn't get out of it until like two years after the baby's birth and she just barely new about the baby. Katniss said that her mother felt terrible afterwards though.
