Virgil flew faster than he's ever flown before; his wings and hair fluttering in the wind as he saws towards the campsite he abandoned the previous evening. All he could feel was dread and fear 'how could I leave Logan alone with an armed man!' he thought to himself over and over.
His mind kept running through the events of last night, he was a coward on so many levels and he hated himself for it, he knew he'd never be able to face his friends again after this, he just hoped with all his being that ALL his friends were still alive...
He finally reached the campsite and landed and became visible to the world, coiling his wings behind his back; he'd need all the energy he could muster for this search and rescue thus he didn't bother hiding his wings from the world, luckily the area was clear. Out of breath and dashing around looking for the exact spot he'd left Logan he finally saw his black feather dotted around a certain area and clear footprints imprinted in the grass and soil.
"Ok... Ok... Ok... Think..." he spoke, almost as a mantra. He paced around the area, trying to spot if there was a return pattern, to follow the footprints. It took a while but he managed to track the footprints to the edge of the forest before losing them. "NO! Crap!" he growled before regretting kicking a tree "OW! Fuck! Damn it!" he held his foot and hopped about completely frustrated before collapsing onto his backside, hot tears crawling down his cheeks and dripping onto the leafy ground below.
"It's my fault... Its my fault... I'm so sorry Logan..." the last word came out as a sob as he collapsed onto his side in a ball and sobbed loudly into the forest.
Minutes turned into hours, Virgil has passed out from crying but slowly regained consciousness to a voice. 'Virgil? Virgil? Is that you? Can you hear me?' This voice was distant and faint, almost ridged.
Virgil's eyes shot open as he sat up quickly and looked around "Logan?! Where are you?! I can't see you!" he called out, trying to get himself onto his feet, spreading his wings out a bit to get balance, he was frantic again, he'd heard Logan's voice, he knew that for sure, but he was nowhere to be seen!
"Logan! Where are you! I'm so sorry!" He cried out, but he couldn't hear Logan anymore, was it a dream?? But no, he heard it again 'Virgil, I can hear you, please don't make yourself known, the man that shot you has me chained up in a basement of sorts and he is looking for you, he wants your wings, please keep your voice down'.
It was at this moment that Virgil realised he was hearing Logan's thoughts, just like a regular voice though, it was distant, he was close but not close enough, not to mention he now knew a psycho was after him and had his friend hostage because of him! He began freaking out once more; this was all too much for him and his guilt to handle.
'Virge... please stop... listen to me, this is what you need to do, just take a breath and listen to my instructions, with some luck we can pull this off... I don't know where Pat and Ro are... I can only hear you so I assume you're alone, but that's all we need"
Virgil listened and slowly turned himself invisible, just in case, he then began following orders from Logan. He stood and looked around the area; it was cool, dark, and had an eerie silence about it. The trees kept the area dark and moist but the sun filtered through the leaves like stars on the ground. Virgil slowly and quietly walking in the direction of the telepathic message while he listened to every instruction.
