"Shh!" Black hissed, looking around scared. Amie's eyebrows frowned in confusion. If he thought that she had known who he was, why didn't he kill her?
"I am going to remove my hand now, and I don't want you to scream, okay?" Black said kindly, but nervously, when he noticed Amie's hesitation. Amie nodded. Black slowly removed his hands from her face, and Amie straightened up her back.
"Now, can you answer my question? How did you know?"
"I didn't," Amie said defiantly.
"What do you mean, you didn't? You called me Sirius." Black frowned.
"You do know that serious is a word, don't you?" Amie snorted. Black sighed, rubbing his eyes.
"You mean I just revealed myself to someone who didn't know?"
"That's exactly what I mean." Amie said.
Black was silent for a long time, and he sat down on the bench next to Amie.
"What am I going to do now?" Black groaned. Amie raised her eyebrows. He didn't seem like a murderer.
"You could tell me why you want to kill my best friend?" Amie said hesitantly.
"Harry?" Black said surprised. "I don't want to kill Harry, I'm trying to keep him safe."
"What? Then why did you kill all those Muggles? They can't have been a threat to him."
"Of course they weren't a threat, but I didn't kill them either. I was framed." Black said.
"By who?" Amie said quietly.
"Peter Pettigrew." Black spat, and a fire erupted in his eyes. He looked scary.
"Pettigrew?" Amie gasped. "But wasn't he the wizard who --"
"I supposedly killed? Yeah. But as I just showed you, I'm an Animagus."
Amie nodded for him to continue.
"Well, so is he. We were friends at Hogwarts. Me, Peter, James and Remus. All of us became Animagus, except for Remus, of course." Black said without thinking.
"Because he is a werewolf." Amie voiced her thoughts. Black looked at her surprised.
"How did you know? Did he tell you that?"
"No. I guessed. His Boggart is a moon, and he was 'sick' after the full moon." Amie said.
"Huh. I'm impressed. All those years at Hogwarts with Remus, almost no one knew. And a third-year finds out after a couple of months."
"I guess. But back to the point, Pettigrew, you say?" Amie pressed.
"Yes. On the night when I supposedly did all those murders, Pettigrew had betrayed my friends, Harry's parents, and I went after him. When I found him there were Muggles around -- he shouted to the whole street that I had betrayed them, then he cut of his finger, killed those nearest to him, and transformed into a rat. Everyone who wasn't killed all said that I had done it, and that I betrayed Lily and James." Black had tears in his eyes when he finished his story.
"How do I know I can believe you?" Amie said.
"I can't convince you until I have proof, but perhaps this can help." Black said and pulled out a photograph. On the photograph was a picture of Ron's family when they were in Egypt on vacation. Ron was smiling to the camera, Scabbers on his shoulder.
"What does this have to do with anything?" Amie frowned.
"The rat. Look at his front paw."
Amie looked closely at Scabbers, and saw that one of his toes were missing.
