Chapter 16

Asher's POV

I watched as Bella was talking to Max, Noah, Zach, and Tyler. She had a serious expression on her face. Well, I'm not surprised. I felt really bad when I hit her. I didn't know why I cared about her so much.

When Bella told us about what was going on with her situation, I felt my heart breaking. I felt sad that she was going through this, but I understood. I understood what she was going through. I mean, my mom overdosed, while my father was abusive. It was just my older sister and I. Bella was the only one who talked to me when I first moved, in 7th grade. She introduced me to Max, Noah, Tyler, and Zach.

Flashback

We decided to hang out with Bella, as she had told us her new adress. As we were walking from Tyler's house, seeing as it's 5 minutes away, Blake was walking with his girlfriend. As his girlfriend went into a house, he walked up to me.

"So, the gang's all here", he smirked. "Oh wait, where's dumbell?" He asked. "None of your business", Tyler said. "Man though, for such a stupid girl, she's sexy, and very hot. I'm sure y'all know what I mean", Blake said. "no, what're you implying?" Max asked. "I'm saying that every one of you must have slept with her. How much did she charge you, I'm going to see if I could have a turn with her", he chuckled.

I felt my anger rising, me trying to control it. "No, she's our friend, we would never do that. We see her as a sister", Zach said.

"Sure, if that's the excuse you want to use. She looks fun though", that's when I pounced. I tackled him to the ground, throwing punches, and kicking him. "Don't you ever talk about Bella that way, or I will actually kill you", I threatened him. "Ooh I'm so scared", he sarcastically said, which angered me more.

Now here I was sitting in front of two men, who I had no clue who they were. They looked like doctors, considering they had a doctors kit, and a first aid kit.

"So, why'd you get into that fight?" The guy with the curly hair asked. "Why would I tell you, I don't even know your name?" I said. "Well, I'm Harry and this is Louis. We're doctors at Golden Meadows Hospital", Harry told me.

"So, now that we've introduced ourselves, now would be a good time to introduce yourselves", Louis said. "I'm Asher", I said. "So, how do you know Bella?" Harry asked skeptically. "We're friends", I simply said. "How do you know Bella?" I asked. Harry answered. "I adopted her not too long ago". "Now that we know each other, can you tell us why you got in a fight?" I shook my head. "I can't because even I don't know why", I told them.

"Well, let's drop you off at your house. You're lucky that the police didn't see, but there is a possibility of Blake's family pressing charges for this", Louis told me. "I know. This isn't my first rodeo, with that, I walked to the car. My friends had already left, seeing as they had to go home.

I sat in the back, next to Bella. "Bella, I really am sorry. I didn't mean to", I apologised. "Let's talk when we get to my house", she said, and I complied.

We got to her house, sitting beside the pool. "Asher, I forgive you. I was never mad. Sure, I was disappointed, but I know why now. I know why you did what you did. You did on behalf of me. I love that you did that, because that shows me what a true friend you are", she told me. I decided to admit the truth about how I feel.

"That's just the thing, Bella. I don't know if I want to be just friends with you. I think I like you. I know this is fast, really fast, and you don't have to like me
back", She shushed me. "I like you too". Bella pushes me into the pool. "Bella, are you serious!", I shouted. With that, she jumped into the pool. "Bella, why would you jump into the pool too?" I asked her.

"Well, I didn't want you to be lonely", she swam up to me.
