When that old river runs pass your eyes
To wash off the dirt on the riverside
Go to the water so very near
The river will be your eyes and ears
-
She went over to the edge of the cliff and that was the first time i saw the grey circulating in her veins and the stars in her eyes burnt out and her skin cracked and she told me she wasn't okay as she seemed to be and that her bones were weak and her ribs would collapse from another fall.

She told me that one day, she'll jump into obscurity and swim with angels so delicate you'd think they were made out of glass.

She told me she wanted the water of the river to free her of life, of her sins and virtues and every thing in between.

She told me she wanted jump and drown so that each inch of her was composed of the old river itself and her eyes would only see blues and her ears would hear only the loud water against the land and the rocks.

That she wanted to flow away with the river and fall into the deep depths of the pacific.

My spine curved and my knees went weak as i promised to hug her until the thought of killing herself felt foreign and i promised to stretch my arms and get her the brightest star because oh my god, she was so special and she deserved the whole universe and i promised that one day, i would pull down the moon and give it to her.

She smiled and she looked at me like i was an entire ocean and she was willing to let me fill her lungs with water.

And i knew in that moment that she wasn't just my moon,
She was my sun and all my stars, too.
