The lines stretched longer than the horizon. People began lining up to get these shots of denial. I refer to them as detox's because the clean your mind out of anything before so you can face whatever happens next. I was next. The stung pained like the pain that held within me from before just all gushed over. Pulling my arm back i begin to walk up to the square. Thresh doesn't dare to give only but a quick glance at me. She begins. The lady with the orange hair i mean. "And May the odds be in your favor" she sang out. And so she did and said the names.

Everything froze. The howls of my mother became nothing but an echo. The relief of everyone else becoming quick condolences. The pace of my life replaying over and over again Until there was nothing left to hold on to. The detox was working. They have me wrapped around their fingers. Theres no escaping now. I couldn't let them win. I ran. Not from fear but for freedom. I ran until there was nowhere to run. The hands stopped me. "You cant run" he said. "What makes you think i cant do i seem weak?" I shrieked. "But if you run you give them what they want. Your attention" he says. I stop. I think about it. He was right.

"Its going to be fine somehow" thresh comforts me. "Oh please how can anything ever be fine in this situation" i Question. "Well i got you and you have me" he replies. And as if my cheek were an envelope he sealed it with a kiss.
