The half-breed (working title)

Hope and disappointment:

"Alpha, Luna, there is a Witch and a Vampire here; they say they were sent by the elders" Ben and Sarah shared a quick look "send them in; I was expecting someone, I just didn't know who or what"; as the Omega led them in Sarah offered them the customary greetings "Greetings honored guests; My name is Luna Sarah, may I offer you Bread, Honey and Wine"? They nodded understanding the meaning behind each offer, it was Rosa who replied gently with a smile "please Luna, that would be most kind; I shall assist you" leaving the two men in the office Sarah and Rosa went towards the kitchen.

"Luna, on our way here, I smelt my mate; I wondered if it was possible to meet him...I understand that some packs don't like mixed mates, I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable" Sarah smiled "Rosa, I'm sure by the end of the night he'll be banging down the door to get to you; in this pack we welcome love; no matter what form it takes. Our only fear is...well best left to discuss later". The ladies made small talk and chatted about everything and nothing working together to prepare the meal or bread and honey and drinks of wine.

In the office Vlad and Ben looked at each other, sizing the other up "the office is soundproof" Ben stated; Vlad relaxed "Alpha, you have my mate here, I thought she was dead..." Ben held up his hand to stop him talking "if she's your mate, why didn't you know she's alive?" sighing Vlad began again "She would be twelve; I met her once when she was two, just outside Hame. She lived with her great-great Grandfather, a Witch and her twin brothers; her parents a wolf and hunter were dead...Eight years ago the home I left her in was burnt to the ground, with everyone inside; until I reached your border; I didn't know she had lived" a tiny streak of blood ran down his face, "I returned there to offer them a home, and found death".

The women returned at the men said nothing of what they had spoken about "Ben my love, Rosa thinks her mate might be here, how wonderful would that be, a Witch in the pack" he smiled and nodded "wonderful, we always welcome new members" via the mind link he contacted Adam "don't bring Tina, we have a problem" as Ben, Sarah, Vlad and Rosa sat down to discuss the rouge hunters and the training the pack would need to do. They ate the bread and honey and sipped at the wine, suddenly Rosa dropped everything and looked at the door, it opened, and Adam walked in. They looked at each other and their hands reached for the other "mate" they whispered; Sarah jumped up and down with excitement "it's about time Adam; I was beginning to have my doubts we'd ever find her". Vlad looked at Adam sharply, "congratulations, but I warn you, hurt Rosa and deal with me!" Valentina's scent was mingled with the other children and thus hidden, "now about the child, where is she? I don't wish to take her; just to make sure she's safe and well" Vlad looked at the wolves waiting for an answer; Adam pulled away from Rosa ever so slightly "My daughter is outside- but you must be prepared". Vlad ran to the window almost a blur in his rush to get there; he almost asked which child, but his eyes were drawn to the wolf cub playing with the children "she's already hit puberty"? His eyes widened with the thought this child was already becoming a woman "NO!" Adam shouted before taking a breath and explaining "my Tina is a child, she has been in that form since I found her; she may never turn back" his look of anger turned to pity when he realised why Vlad had asked, "you're her mate"? he whispered, Vlad could only nod as he felt Rosa's arm comfort him "there's nothing I can say Vlad, but I'll care for her, and help her; she's still young. There's still hope" unable to take the kind words Vlad ran from the building, from his friend and from the pain.
