Having an agreement with Malfoy was one of the best things that had happened to Harry.

He didn't have to deal with churlish comments, or reciprocate taunting scowls. He didn't even so much as have to look in Malfoy's direction at all.

Lavender was happy, Hermione was happy, and Ron was eating, but he was happy as well. Everyone was happy, and that made Harry happy.

His daily drop-offs to Zacharias Smith held homework assignments and awkward nods of approval once they had spoken about the bribe to keep the whole "Malfoy kiss" under wraps.

Harry really wasn't sure why he cared so much about protecting himself from the news spreading; it was no secret that he absolutely abhorred Malfoy and all that he stood for. He loathed Malfoy's smugness and all of the influence that he somehow had over the school. He vocalized that opinion more often than not, so why did he care if people found out about their deal, or even the kiss? It wasn't like his opinion of Malfoy had changed in any way. He still found the blond to be disgusting, narcissistic, and ignorant.

The weeks began to blend together and soon his month of begging Hermione to do Smith's homework for him was over. Things went on to their new normal, which included absolutely no interactions with Malfoy whatsoever.

If only it could have lasted.

There was something about Malfoy that made Harry so drawn to him.

It was like they were magnets, and Harry was unsure whether they attracted each other or repelled, so he kept getting close and running back before he was able to find out.

Malfoy was still single for a long time after he and Parvati had called it quits. Harry noticed this, and, of course, so did the entirety of the student-body. With no reigning couple to belittle the rest of the masses, Hogwarts had a new cheery and free atmosphere that seemed to blanket over the castle.

But back to the magnet thing.

Harry might have been positive that he wanted absolutely nothing more to do with Malfoy, but apparently the blond wasn't understanding the "repel" part of magnets with unlike charges.

Harry was slipped a note during Transfigurations on a bustling Friday; he, Ron, and Hermione were going to Hogsmeade that day, directly after the lesson, which would be letting out early. Lavender had planned to spent time with Ernie MacMillan, which Harry had been reluctant to support.

The note was in a thick type of paper that not unlike the paper that Hermione tended to write important messages on. It was coarse and rough around the edges, and the note was on only a scrap of paper, so it's angular edges had been ripped.

"Meet me by the willow tree before Hogsmeade," it read.

Harry rolled his eyes and balled the note up in his hands. It was difficult because the paper was hefty and small.

Another note was flipped his way. "Meet me by the fucking willow tree," this one said.

Harry rolled his eyes. There was nothing about the note that pointed in any other direction other than Malfoy; Harry had seen his curvy and neat handwriting before on a project that they had done a few years prior. The letters swooped primarily to the left, with little hoops on the bottom of the 'g' and 'y'.
