'Oh that's...' He paused for a moment, looking up at the night sky and trying to think of an appropriate response.

'Sirius I-'

'Great! That's great.' he carried on, offering a small smile and patting Luna on the back. She was disconcerted by his optimism; for the first time ever she found that his sense of positivity filled her with a sickly feeling.

Sirius scratched the nape of his neck as an awkward silence followed his statement; it was unbeknownst to Luna that a similar nauseating feeling was creeping it's way through the boy. ' I must make sure that my friends are alright. Then we can um...'

'Go our separate ways.' The sentence was supposed to be a statement but by the time it had left Sirius' lips it had sounded much more like a question.

'Oh...Yes.'

'Is something wrong?' Luna turned away and looked to the ground. 'Luna?' He wasn't quite sure why he suddenly felt uncomfortable but Luna started to walk towards the Forbidden Forest- where the voices had come from, so Sirius followed.

As soon as Luna had heard those voices she she had known that they belonged to her wonderful friends. Though she couldn't control the nervous anticipation she felt at the thought of them meeting Sirius, and even more so at the thought of leaving Sirius.

They entered the Forbidden Forest in silence. Sirius inhaled the usually calming scent of pine; this time it was not so. The voices- belonging to Hermione, Harry and Ron became louder the deeper into the forest they walked. Luna reached out and slid her finger tips over the green leaves; her delicate fingertips brushed along the veins. They were like tributaries, branching off a larger river that ran along the centre of the leaf.

Now that Luna was home Sirius would have to leave. The deal was that he'd help her, then return to his own time.

He wanted to stay though. With her. He wanted to always protect her like a wolf would his pack.

Sirius was more perturbed than he would've liked to admit to.

The girl with the dreamy disposition was even more so as she endeavoured to find comfort in the textured nature of the trees, but failed because nothing would distract her from the thought of Sirius. Even the fresh air turned thick.

Neither seemed to know what exactly to say.

The forest became a darker version of itself as they ventured further in.

Suddenly Sirius was thrown back onto the ground by a powerful force. Reverberating off the trees came a loud noise that sounded like the grunt of a horse. Luna ran towards Sirius with a worried look on her face.

Though there was also an element of something else in her expression.

Immediately he was reminded of the way she had looked when she was about to kiss him at the black lake- with a look of tenderness about her but also a strange, dreamy, kind of passion that he definitely liked.

Forgetting the awkwardness of the given situation he smirked, thinking- I knew she wouldn't be able to resist me. She was going to kiss him. Finally. Or was she?

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to a fantasizing Sirius, Luna had stopped and was now stoking, what appeared to be, the air. 'Are you okay boy?'

'Huh?' Sirius snapped out of his daze to see Luna talking to something that simply wasn't there.

'That's a good boy.'

'I'm great thanks for asking!' he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm whilst he wondered what could be so much more important than kissing him.
