'It really is quite unusual...'
Sirius was woken up by the sound of Luna's soft voice. He rubbed the sleep from his eyes as he took in what she had said.
'What is?'
Luna was looking past Sirius, deep in thought. Her eyes were still slightly clouded; suggesting that she'd only just woken up herself.'Hmm?' She moved her gaze back to Sirius. ' Oh! Sorry to wake you. I mean the snow in May. It hasn't snowed in the summer before...' Sirius shifted into a sitting position on the sofa.
'Is it May? I've been finding it hard to keep track of the months, since we've been travelling...' He thought of James, Remus and Peter and was reminded of how much he missed them, but he didn't want to leave Luna at all either.
So there sat Sirius- groggy and stuck in a psychological limbo. He looked at the stone tiles of the Griffindor common room, deep in thought.
'Sirius, are you okay?' Luna said, noticing his behaviour. At first he didn't reply. She knew the answer to her own question, so didn't want to push him by asking once again.
Instead she sat up and put her hand on his in an attempt to comfort him. Her hands were small and delicate.
Suddenly his gaze was on her because that simple brush of contact had reminded him of the incident in the broom closet.
'I'm fine.' he said rather curtly as he jolted his hand away from hers, far too quickly. He looked away, trying to hide his pink-tinted cheeks. Luna looked at him in confusion as if expecting an explanation.
The look of embarrassment on his face reminded Luna herself of the events that occurred the previous night. She was appalled at what she had done. She hadn't meant any harm by pushing him in the broom closet. Though it seemed that Sirius was more than disturbed by what had happened.
'I'm sorry about yesterday. It won't happen again. I must have really scared you.'
'No it doesn't matter. Consider it forgotten.' he lied as he had tried to desperately forget it.
'Though you still look sad.' Sirius went back to staring at the tiles. She followed his line of sight and found that there was a specific tile he was staring at. On that tile was messily carved 'S.B J.P R.L P.P.'
Then she knew why he wasn't happy. Those were the initials of Sirius Black, James Potter, Remus Lupin and Peter Pettigrew, that they must have etched onto the Griffindor common room together years ago.
Sirius was missing his friends like Luna missed her family. That longing for family would completely destroy a person. So just like that, she knew that he had to go home.
A loud rumbling interrupted the silence.
'Argh. I'm as hungry as hell. Let's go to Hogsmeade already.' He tried to change the subject. He gave no indication of the sadness he'd shown before. For he knew that Luna would worry about him. She was so pure-hearted.
They left the common room, along with it's warmth.
The morning snow had left the stone walls of the Hogwarts cold to touch.
They turned left around the next corner, up the moving staircases.'We can go through the passage near the-'
'Sleeping dragon painting? Luna finished.
'How exactly did you know where the passages are? They're supposed to be a secret.' he said in surprise as they walked up another set of stone stairs.
'I've stumbled upon them many a time when trying to locate the Nargles.'
'I should've known. You really are something else.'
