"Holls, come on. You can't really be upset with me over a game." Calum called after her as he placed his keys on the kitchen counter and followed her to their bedroom.

"It's not over a game, Calum." She said exasperated, her annoyance clear in her voice and the way she rolled her eyes at him even in her inebriated state.

She was drunk, the fact made obvious by her slurred words and her atypically snarky behavior.

"Then why did you avoid me the rest of the party after it?" He asked, his lower lip turned out as he looked at her with his best pouty expression. His mind wasn't exactly clear but he had always been good at holding his alcohol while Holls was still fairly new to drinking at all.

"I wasn't ignoring you." She huffed, stumbling as she stripped out of her jumpsuit and pulled the bobby pins from her hair.

Calum forgot what he was even talking about for a moment as he watched her prepare for bed. She was beautiful. In every single way, but this was his favorite. Her quiet beauty when she was doing mundane things like taking down her hair and washing off her makeup. He loved her, completely and totally.

"It just seemed like you got distant after you saw my answer to some of those questions." He said quietly, letting his trousers fall to the floor and pulling the t-shirt he'd worn over his head and sliding into bed beside her.

She was facing away from him but turned over to look him in the eyes.

"I just," she trailed off and her eyes were vacant as she tried to properly phrase what she wanted to say. "I just felt kind of blindsided. I mean, both of those answers are pretty big deals and we've never talked about either of them."

"These things are years old. I need you to know that firstly, and I wasn't ever trying to like, hide it from you, or anything, so please don't think that."

He reached across the divide and brushed a curl that had fallen across her face behind her ear.

"You've always seen the best in me. Even when I don't deserve it and I love that you think of me so highly. I just didn't...I just didn't want to risk losing your respect."

"I'd respect you a lot more right now if you had just been open about things that have happened in your life."

Calum gave a heavy sigh. "I'm sorry we've never talked about this and I'm sorry you found out in a stupid drinking game."

"Who'd you cheat on, Cal?" She asked, her voice suddenly more serious and somber.

He rolled onto his back and his hand rubbed at the small frown line between his eyebrows.

"My first real girlfriend." He said. "It was right when we got signed and we moved from Australia to London. I should've ended it before I left but, at that point, we thought we'd be back and that just never happened. We started getting attention and I'd never had girls interested in my like that and I fucked up. She broke up with me a few weeks later and I never even told her I'd slept with someone else."

"And the pregnancy scare?" She asked hesitantly, not really sure she wanted to hear his answer.

He closed his eyes and released a deep breath.

"A groupie. We spent a night together when I was on tour and like nineteen. It was in the midst of when all of us were just...young and completely stupid. We were all making terrible decisions and this was one of mine. She got a hold of me a few weeks later and said she was having symptoms and going to the doctor. Scared me shitless, but she wasn't pregnant."
