"what's up mazzarra," ricky bluntly said as he sat down in the principal's office. mr. mazzarra gave ricky an annoyed look and rolled his eyes.

"it's principal mazzarra to you," he said in a stern voice. ricky rolled his eyes and let out a deep sigh.

"okay, is there a reason im in here? or are you just bored of being lonely all the time?" ricky said and started to chuckle. his smile soon faded away once mr. mazarra brought out empty beer bottles and placed them on his desk.

"found these on campus, the night of the school dance."

"interesting.. now what kind of idiots would drink alcohol at school?"

"i don't know ricky, you tell me," the principal said and eyes ricky. the boy simply shrugged his shoulders and stayed silent.

"i left the dance early."

"ahh yess... then you trespassed private property, jumped off a cliff with tommy grazer, ran away from the cops, and spent the entire night in jail," principal mazzarra said. ricky's face fell and the principal laughed, "you think i don't know about your recent shenanigans, mr. bowen?"

"what are you gonna do then.. expel me?"

"not yet," he answered, "let's make a deal."

"about...?"

"you have to start attending ALL of your classes, help the janitors clean up after school, tutor disadvantaged kids on the weekends, and participate in the drama club's spring play."

"what the hell? no way!" ricky whined and got up from his seat to leave the office.

"then i have no other choice than to expel you mr. bowen," mr. mazzarra said, "step out that door and you'll get expelled and graduate next year, while all of your little friends will already be in college. how does that sound?"

ricky let out a deep sigh and sat back down in the seat, "fine. i'll do it."

"perfect."

"dang, you have to do all of that?" gina asked while the five of them sat in the cafeteria.

"and join the stupid spring play," ricky whined and rolled his eyes in annoyance. he looked up from his food and saw nini salazar-roberts walking down the cafeteria aisle.

"god.. what is she wearing?" everly laughed with carlos joining her. nini was wearing a long floral dress, white sneakers, and her usual white cardigan sweater.

"i remember when i wrote that in the 2nd grade," gina added on stealing a few laughs from everyone but ricky.

"nice dress," everly told nini once she finally passed by their table. nini looked up from the floor and smiled at everly.
