epilogue

it's a year after luke and i broke up. i convinced myself to move on after so long. i found a boyfriend who treated me well, and i tried my best to not compare him to luke.

reasoning being, deep down i know that nobody could compare to luke.

it's a drunken night, and i told everyone that i'm driving myself home. somehow, they let me, though i'm far from sober.

i slide into my car, ignoring the fact that i need to buckle. but everything happens so fast.

the red light that i ignore. the flashing bulbs in my eyes. the screech of the car that i ram into.

somehow i don't die. i'm transferred into the hospital, and i'm convinced i'm dying.

"i need to see him," i murmur. it hurts, but i wanted to see one last thing.

so they bring him to me. his hair is lighter now, shaggier. he looks at me with teary eyes. those eyes i had longed to see.

"why do you want me here, sky?"

truthfully, i just wanted the last thing i see to be his eyes.

"i dunno."

"i love you, sky. know that."

i nod. "i know. i love you luke."
