With almost superhuman strength, Cooheart twisted his face away from Title's and pushed him away. Then he quickly waded through the fast running water, almost losing his balance just before he got onto dry land, and then started sprinting towards Kao.
"P'Kao! Stop! Please!" Cooheart yelled at the top of his lungs.
To Cooheart's dismay, the faster he ran, the faster Kao ran as well.
Finally, losing breath, Cooheart stopped beside a tree that was along the path. He leaned against the trunk for support and yelled as loud as he could, "P'Kao, why are you running away?"
Kao stopped running for a few seconds just to turn around and reply, "Why are you running after me?"
"Because... because... " Cooheart was sobbing now, "... because... I don't want you to leave me, P'Kao, I want to be with you."
Kao stared hard at Cooheart as if trying to determine whether Cooheart meant what he just said or not.
Then he asked, "Are you sure you don't want to spend the rest of the day with Title?"
"Yes, I'm sure, P'Kao!" Cooheart declared vehemently. "I wish to spend your special day with you. Let's celebrate it the way we had planned before I came here with the group."
Kao continued to stand rooted to his spot, indecision written all over his face. Was Cooheart sincere about wanting to be with him? He debated long and hard within himself.
Then he started walking slowly towards Cooheart. Cooheart did not wait for Kao to reach him. He closed the distance quickly and fell into Kao's welcoming arms.
Then Cooheart noticed a triumphant smile on Kao's face as he looked behind Cooheart. Cooheart turned around to see Title standing beside the same tree that Cooheart had stopped to lean against for support earlier. Title was doing the exact same thing that Cooheart had done earlier against the tree except that Title was staring silently at both Kao and Cooheart, his face twisted in a mixture of sadness and bitterness.
Cooheart moved away from Kao.
"I... I...," he started to say as he made a step towards Title.
