Alone

"Just put it in my desk, Sierra. Thank you."

Inutusan kasi ako ni Sir Dacumos bitbitin ang mga papers namin kanina hanggang sa faculty kahit hindi naman iyon madami.

"No problem, Sir." Sabi ko saka naglakad paalis para bumalik na sa room.

"Uh, Sierra!" Tawag niya muli sa akin kaya napahinto ako at lumapit ulit sa kaniya.

"Bakit po? Is there something else you need, Sir?" I asked.

"Uhm, I just want to say sorry if I offended you yesterday. I admit that I was a little harsh on you. Sana 'wag kang magtanim ng galit sa akin." Pagpapaumanhin niya.

I was shocked to hear him apologize. I didn't expected that.

"It's alright, Sir. You don't have to apologize. I have no hard feelings about yesterday." I assured him.

He smiled at me. "Thank you for understanding, Sierra."

"But may I ask a favor, Sir?" Nag-aalangan pa akong sabihin.

"Sure, anything, sa abot ng aking makakaya." He said then asked. "What is it?"

Pumangalumbaba siya sa kaniyang mesa, mukhang naiintriga habang hinihintay ang aking sagot.

"I just hope that you'll still treat me like how you treat everyone else." Pakiusap ko. "Ayoko po sanang magbago 'yon dahil—

Mahina siyang napahalakhak kaya napahinto ako sa pagsasalita. "Oh, I'm sorry. I was just expecting something else. You were saying?"

Huminga ako ng malalim at napayuko saka muling itinuloy. "Well, as you know, the Villamor's are influential, and I see that you're close to Tita Josephine, pero sana ay 'wag pong magbago ang pagtrato niyo sa akin just because I have connection with them. I don't want other people to misinterpret and also, I want to excel and earn achievements because I worked hard for it."

Hindi siya umimik kaya napatingala ako at naabutan siyang nakangiti.

"Tulad ka rin ng magkakapatid. But anyways, of course, as you wish. Anything else?"

I shook my head. "Nothing more."

I smiled at him before I bid goodbye.

Every Friday, I always head home first because we don't have classes on the afternoon. So, instead of Zildjian, Kuya Jose will be the one who'll pick me up today.

I went back to our classroom to get my things, but to my dismay, from the doorway, I saw my bag and the things inside it scattered on the floor.

There's no one else in the room but I know who has the grudge in me.

I sighed and rolled my eyes then entered the room, only to see Leo picking up and organizing my papers at the corner.

When he heard my steps, he glanced at me, to his surprise, he quickly stood up. "I-I'm sorry, Sierra. I tried to stop them but—

"It's okay." Agap ko saka nilagpasan siya para pulutin ang aking bag.

Pinagpag ko iyon bago pulutin ang mga natitirang gamit. Nahihiyang itinuloy ni Leo ang pagtulong sa akin magpulot.

"Nakita ko pala yung mga scores mo sa quiz natin, halos perfect lahat. Nakakahiya sa scores ko samantalang tinuturuan lang kita noon." Sabi niya, trying to reduce the awkwardness.

Hindi ako sumagot sa halip, tipid lang ako ngumiti habang nag-aayos pa rin.

Mabuti na lang, walang nasira o nawalang gamit pagkatapos kong mag-ayos.
