Riley stared out of the fogey window and watched the rain hit the street outside. She felt a hand gently tap her shoulder and looked up.
"Hi Farkle." She said, glancing up at him.
"Hi Riles." He responded, sitting down next to her. "You know, you've been sitting in the bay window all day."
"I have?" She asked quietly. She didn't need an answer. She knew she had. She just didn't have the strength to get up and face the real world.
"Yes. What have you been doing in here? You haven't been responding to any of our texts. Maya was getting worried."
"I've just been thinking." She looked down at her hands.
"Are you still getting over it?" He asked. His words struck her. He had brought up the last thing she wanted to think about. All the memories came back to her.
Flashback 1 week ago...
"...and because of those reasons, I choose Maya." Lucas' words stung Riley's heart.
"Riley are you ok?" Maya asked, worried.
"I... need some fresh air." She said before running out of the cabin. Tears stung her eyes but she refused to cry in front of her friends. Now, safely hidden behind a tree, the tears streamed down her face. How could Lucas do this to her!? He chose Maya over her! Was she not good enough? All her emotions rushed over her like a tidal wave. She knew she should be happy for her friend but it hurt her to much. The triangle was finally over... and he chose Maya. She walked down a path to the river, her eyes filled with tears. She stood there, staring at her reflection in the water. Of course she wasn't good enough. She was kidding herself if she ever thought she was. Maya had always one upped her in everything and she did it again. Suddenly, she felt two strong arms wrap around her waist. She turned around.
"Farkle..." She started but tears spilled out, cutting her off.
"Shhh..." he whispered. "It's okay. I'm here now."
End of Flashback...
"Yes I'm getting over it." She said, choking back tears.
"Riley, you don't have to hide your feelings. You know you can be yourself with me." She couldn't hold it in anymore. The tears started pouring out.
"Was I not good enough for him?! Is Maya better than me?" Farkle automatically embraced her.
"Riley no! You're perfect the way you are. And I know I said that I will always love you and Maya equally, but in my book, you're number one." His words comforted her. Her sobs started slowing down, and she cried quietly on his shoulder, her tears glistening like the raindrops on the window.
