Before we get into the story, I would really like to thank @ali6ce ! She's a total sweetheart and an amazing writer. She also gave me the inspiration to write this book, from a prompt she left on my one-shot book. Please check her out, she's lovely and a complete angel!

I'd just like you to know, this story is based off 'Agent Attack' in my one-shot book, is set roughly in the same universe but slightly different. In this AU, Virgil quit his job a few years ago while Patton, Logan and Roman are still working at theirs.

Anyway, to the story!

"Hey, cutie," Purred the young woman. She was well-toned, meaning she wasn't one of the floozies who went to the gym just to check out the guys. At least she could get respect for that.

"Hi," Virgil replied quietly, focusing solely on lifting his body up on the bars. There was barely any effort in it, he had done better.

"You look like you come here a lot," She teased. He did. "Would you mind teaching me a few tips?"

Virgil decided to play oblivious as he let himself land quietly on the gym floor. "I'm sorry, I'm not an instructor here. There are some classes you can book at the desk, if you want."

The woman looked a little put-out, but she tried not to let it leak into her voice as she said. "I dunno, I find their tips don't always work. Maybe you have a few?"

Shrugging, Virgil feigned apology. "I'm really sorry, but I don't really have any. Besides, I was just going."

The girl hesitated then glared. "Jeez, you could've just said you weren't interested."

"And it would've upset you. So, I tried to gently let you down."

She was about to snap back another answer until she realised what Virgil had meant. Instead of thanking him for his kind denial, the woman spun on her heel and walked back to a mat where a few weights were. Virgil got back to work.

He didn't need to do this anymore. But, he did. It was a hard habit to get out of. Besides, what was a bit of muscle? Virgil knew how Important it was to stay in good condition. You never know when you'd need it.

The man sighed as he easily pulled his body up and down, hoisted high off the floor. He was definitely the fittest person here. The big bodybuilders in the corner weren't as strong as him. The boxers throwing fists in the arena weren't as strong as him. The people lifting deadweight weren't as strong as him but they looked it. Because Virgil just had to be naturally scrawny and small.

With a yawn, the emo saw his phone buzz and light up, on the bench. He dropped silently onto the matt beneath the pull-up bars and walked over, picking it up.

patton(roomie): Do you want pasta or pizza for dinner? Roman says he wants some classic Italian

Virgil unlocked his phone by lifting it on-level to his face, the face ID managing to pick up who it was despite the light sweat and greasy bangs.

Me: idk, pasta sounds good

Me: rlly don't care much, get whatever

patton(roomie): Ok, kiddo, will do

patton(roomie): when will You b home?

Me: i'll start coming back now

Me: send logan to pick me up?

patton(roomie): Logans a little busy rn
