Roman was off the phone with his... boss... and he sighed down at his phone's' background. It was a picture of him and Virgil, watching Disney together. A vague enough picture for him to say he had set it as a joke and forgot to change back, but at the same time, Virgil was smirking into the camera over Roman's' shoulder and his smirk was beautiful.

With a sigh, Roman felt a lovesick smile slid on his own face, so he switched off his phone, putting it in his pocket and joining his friends back out for dinner.

"Princey," Virgil greeted him almost instantly, without turning away from his pasta. "You're finally here."

"Oh, come on, I didn't take that long, did I?" Roman replied quickly, teasingly flicking Virgil's' shoulder as he sat down.

Virgil huffed, rolling his eyes playfully, and Patton began to serve Roman up a helping of pasta. "Here ya go, kiddo!" Patton chirped. "Just what you asked for! How's your mom?"

The brief moment of eye contact was all Roman needed to know what to say. "Think she's a little tired right now. Hungry, maybe. Everything she was saying was just kinda wild, but that's usual. Might need to visit her soon. And Dad, of course. Literally never see him. Little sad, honestly, but that happens with split parents."

Logan and Patton nodded, hearing the message Roman told them, but Virgil scoffed. "Jeez, the life story is a little unnecessary, don't ya think?"

"Virgil, the sarcasm is quite unnecessary," Logan lectured, twisting the pasta around on his fork.

"Yeah, yeah," Admitted Virgil reluctantly. "Sorry, mom."

Logan flushed. "I'm not your mom!"

"Yeah, you are, kinda," Roman agreed. "And Patton's the dad."

Patton and Logan caught each other's' eyes and both went bright red. "N-Nonsense, Roman. We are simply a close group of friends that care for each other," Logan spluttered, embarrassment morphing into annoyance. "Nothing familial about it."

"That does actually sound like family shit when you put it like that," Virgil shrugged.

"We aren't a family-!" Logan protested, but to no avail. His friends had stopped listening to him and were now applying roles.

"So," Roman started, "Logan's mom, Patton's dad and Virgil-?"

Patton sat up happily. "He's my son!"

Roman smiled graciously, nodding. "And I?"

"Our son-in-law," Logan couldn't help but comment.

Virgil burst out laughing, slamming his hadn briefly on the table in humour, and Roman's' face went bright red. "Logan, non è giusto!"

"Mi dispiace, ma te lo meriti," Replied Logan confidently. He fixed his glassed up his nose smugly. "I believe the phrase is, 'It sucks to be you', hmm?"

"Close enough, Lo," Patton smiled warmly, as Virgil leaned tauntingly across the table at Roman.

"Hey, princey," He called out snarkily, before offering out his hand. "Kiss for your husband in front of the in-laws?"

If Roman's' face could go redder, it just did. He opened his mouth, fumbling over words and stammering, his mind racing at the prospect. Kissing Virgil? It all seemed a little to dreamlike. In the end, he managed to stammer out, "I'm gonna kill you guys..."

Patton gasped. "Roman, that's mean!"

Virgil rolled his eyes. "Well, hurry up about it."

Logan simply sighed. "It would be a pretty fruitless venture, Roman, and the consequences would be far too heavy."

"Yeah,"  Virgil said, focusing on his food as he winded up his pasta. "Why don't you just wait? I'll step in front of a train soon enough."

"Virgil!" Logan exclaimed, nearly dropping his fork.

Patton gasped. "No, Virgil, don't die!"

"We're all gonna die eventually, Pat," Roman said with a shrug and Virgil dropped his cutlery, even though no one noticed. "But I agree, let's not hurry it up, huh, Virge?"

"Mhm," Hummed Virgil quickly in response, gatheirng his utensials and looking down at his half-finished plate. "I'm pretty tired, though, I'm gonna go get ready for bed."

"Going to!" Corrected Logan.

Patton looked deflated. "Aw, but kiddo, you haven't finished yet..."

Virgil flashed Patton one of his, small, rare, caring smiles as he promised, "If you put it in the fridge, I'll microwave it and have not for lunch."

Despite still looking a little sad, Patton nodded understandingly and sighed. "Deal," He agreed and then reached for the emo's' plate as Virgil wandered into his room. He took the plate up to the kitchen and opened the fridge door, waiting for Virgil's' door to shut, before saying, "So, the mall?"

"Apparently," Roman replied. "The others are getting desperate since Anxiety went off the radar. They're hoping to grab some loot but they're making this a high-stakes operation. It won't be easy."

"When shall we leave?" Logan inquired.

Roman managed to keep his crush quite secret. But the way he looked at Virgil's' bedroom door was all his friends needed to know, as if they hadn't picked up on it before, about what his true feelings were. "Once he's falling asleep. So we won't need to worry about hom being awake when we get back. The heist's at two, anyway."

His friends nodded knowingly, and that was all that needed to be said about it.
