Maya's POV
*time skip to when Maya and Abby go*
Abby went in front of me and went into the Town Hall door. "Good luck," I called. She sent me a thumbs up and then closed the door behind her. A few minutes later she came out the door smiling. She had a red mark on her cheek. That meant she got Hider. I hugged her. "Congrats!" I laughed. "Thanks! Your turn." I nodded and went through the door. I waved to Abby as she got into her car and drove off, probably to go tell her sister.
I took a deep breath and opened the heavy door. It slammed behind me and I saw the District Leader sitting in a chair. It was an older man named Sam. I cautiously stepped up to the table he was sitting at. "Ah, Maya, I was wondering when it would be your turn." I nodded. I stepped up to the table and put my hands on it. There were designated areas for where to put your hands when getting marked.
I placed my hands on the two areas and at first, nothing happened. Then all of a sudden I felt my palms tingle a little bit. My cheek tickled after. I felt like someone was painting on my face with their finger. Then, as quickly as it had come, the sensation went away. Sam smiled at me. I looked in the mirror to the side of the table. I had a red line on my cheek. I was so happy. I got Hider! I couldn't wait to go home and tell my family. I said a quick goodbye and thank you to Sam and raced outside to my car. I got in and drove home.
