I drove as fast as I could to my house without speeding. When I finally got home, I threw the door open and walked in. My dad ran to me and hugged me, lifting me in the air. I laughed. "hey dad!" "How did it go, sweetie?" He asked. I showed him the mark on my cheek. He smiled, worry in his eyes. "Whats wrong dad?" I asked. "This is great! I can live with you guys now!" He smiled and nodded. "Yes, but we have to hide you. People can't know your a Hider, they could come after you." I sighed, and nodded reluctantly. I hadn't thought about that. I would have to hide my whole life. It would suck, but I would have to get used to it.

My mom came running in after. "What happened? What did you get? What did Abby get? Do you know what other people got?" I laughed. My mom always asked me loads of questions whenever I went anywhere. By now my dad had set me on the ground again and I answered her questions. "I got Hider, so did Abby, I dont know what other people got because I left right after getting marked."

She nodded absentmindedly. "Well, we are going to have to hide you. You can only go to school, no more hanging out with people after. Right to school and then right home, understand?" she asked. I said yes. "Okay, good, we can have your birthday cake now, I baked it just for you!" I smiled. My mom was always very thoughtful.

I sat in my chair and my family sang happy birthday to me. My dad sliced the cake and we all had some. I went to sleep because I was nervous for tomorrow.

Tomorrow is when my real life begins.
