Nathalie emerged from her bathroom, a toothbrush in hand, when her phone rang. She glanced towards her messy bed. Bonnie had probably gone to fish out some breakfast for them and Abby while she was showering.

"What?" She barked into the phone, balancing it between her shoulder and ear and brushing her teeth, as she strode back to the bathroom.

"Ah, good morning, Grumpy." Damon cheered. "You're on speaker. Elena has some news."

"It was their mother Esther who was sealed in that coffin." The doppelgänger's voice was heard.

Wait, what?

"As in the Original Witch?" Stefan inquired.

"What? How is she even alive?" Damon's question sounded this time. "Thought her hybrid freak show of a son ripped her heart out a thousand years ago."

"I don't know." Elena mumbled and then asked after a brief pause, "Nathalie?"

Nathalie sighed, spitting out the toothpaste in her mouth and taking the phone with her free hand. "Well, if she had friends or connections in the witching community, then they must have preserved her body somehow. I'll have to look it up, but my guess is that the power generated from opening the coffin worked as a pull, the others pushed and her soul ended up back in her body."

"Elijah said that she wants to live in peace with her family, including Klaus." The Gilbert girl added.

Nathalie's phone beeped, indicating a new message, but she elected to ignore it. Whoever it was, she'd deal with them later.

"She was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill Klaus." Stefan argued.

"Well, not anymore...at least not according to Elijah."

"That coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from tearing us to shreds."

"Well, we still have me." Nathalie said, her phone beeping again, sounding angrier this time, at the same time as the older Salvatore mumbled, "Anyone else feeling a little used right now?"

"Look," Elena started in a concluding tone, "Elijah promised me that his family wouldn't hurt any of us."

"They better not." The witch grumbled and hung up. Just amazing, her sister passed out opening the coffin and the person who had been inside sounded like they had no interest in serving their sole purpose. But...Esther had spent a thousand years between the worlds of the living and of the dead, and now she wanted just to forgive her son and reunite their family.

No, it sounded too suspicious. There must has been something more than just family reunion. Nathalie sighed again when her phone beeped for the trillionth time. Whoever was texting her was either impatient or really fucked-up. She saw the contact name and smiled.
