It had been about a week since the confession, and Craig started thinking that Kenny either didn't hear him over the rain* that night, or forgot about it. He knew it was neither since Kenny started keeping a bit of a distance between them since then. Craig knew he was stupid for doing it, but honestly? The words just kind of came out of him. As he held Kenny there, he remembered the words just pounding inside of his head, and they got louder and louder with each passing second that they were just released by sheer will power alone. He sighed into his bed sheets. Seeing as they were on break for whatever reason, he didn't bother to care why, he felt as though it would be even harder for him and Kenny to talk about that night...

The rooftop was always a quiet place Kenny liked to go to. Sure he's technically not allowed up there, but it's not like they care much anyways. It's where he always went to just be alone with his thoughts. However, even that could be a terrible idea... Kenny grit his teeth then, sprinting toward the edge and slamming his fist into the chain link fence, letting out a frustrated, and somewhat pained, grunt. He gripped his fists into the holes, his head leaning forward on the fence. He took a handful of deep breaths and released his grip. Turning around, now with his back to the fenced edge, he slunk down to the harsh concrete. He leaned his head back, eyes closed, and just... thought about the recent events.
"Why me..?" He whispered to no one in particular.
Craig... The boy that changed his life when they first met. Granted, all of his friends did, but something about this edgy delinquent sparked something, like a light, inside of him. At the time, he didn't understand it, but now... now it was different. Somehow, it was just different, and it pissed him off that he didn't understand it. Kenny was always good at understanding others, reading them like a book, but when it came to himself, he had no idea where to even start.
Kenny was startled to the sound of the rooftop door opening, and went to get up in order to hide, but then...
"Craig?" God, he hated his voice sometimes. How it sounded so weak and broken when he's supposed to give off the cool playboy aesthetic.
Craig looked spooked as well, his shoulders went stiff, but softened a bit. 'He's tense' Kenny observed.
"Ah- Oh, uhm... sorry. For scaring you I mean. I usually come up here to smoke by myself.." Craig rubbed at the back of his neck, a small blush tainted his perfect skin-
Kenny appeared frozen for a moment, but mentally shook himself of it, and slowly stood up as to not get himself dizzy.
"N-no, you're fine, I'll just uh.. head back then" Kenny speed walked to the door, when he felt Craig grab his arm to stop him. Kenny's face was also flustered, it seemed...
"Kenny.. we need to talk" Craig's eyes looked soft, which was conflicting since his posture gave off such seriousness, but also like he was on edge. Understandably so, the blonde considered.
"About...?" Kenny mused, as he stepped closer to him. Craig didn't find any amusement in it, slightly tightening his grip on the other's arm.
"You know what about. Please." Craig's brows furrowed. Kenny sighed then. He really hadn't wanted to talk about it, just forget about it like it was some middle school prank where you dared your friends to ask out the school weirdo, but nope, the world was out to get Kenny lately, and not in the usual way it does. 'I wish it would just kill me again though-'
Craig had released his arm, and thrown the other into his arms in an embrace. Kenny flustered at this, sputtering to form words as his shakey hands tried to push some distance between them. Craig proved to be the stronger of the two and maintained his composure, at least it looked like that.
"Kenny please, just listen," Craig started, the breath hot on the blonde's ear making him shiver 'no not the time for that'. "I like you okay? I've thought it over since then and at this point, I don't care if you feel the same, but I felt it was unfair to keep this from you." Craig's voice cracked for a second. He lowly cleared his throat and continued,
"I know this sounds super fucking stupid, and lovesick, but I don't want to be distant friends anymore. If anything, I want to be more with you." He let out a shaky breath, "If you don't want to be more, then that's fine, but I don't like the distance anymore. I don't want what I said to put such a huge gap between us again... These are my feelings.."
Kenny didn't know what to say. This was so much to take in at once.. The hands he previously used to push the taller away, now gripping on the front of his jacket. He didn't like them there now. He released the grip there, and moved his hands to grip the back of Craig's jacket, holding onto him like his life depended on it. He hated these feelings, hated the words Craig had just spoken, but at the same time, he craved the attention. He had been so touch starved for so long that even just in this embrace, his face had heated up immensely. He wished the moment could last forever, but he sighed and let go. Craig understood the sign and gave him his space, looking down at him with those piercing eyes. Kenny focused his gaze toward the ground, his hand gripping onto his shoulder almost like he's shielding himself.
"Craig, I... I don't know, man. Fuck, I don't know. I've.. never had to do this kinda thing, so it's really difficult for me to even comprehend what you're saying. All these emotions are so overwhelming, I feel like I can't breathe..." He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, before taking another deep breath and continuing, "But at the same time, I feel like I've been waiting for something like this. If we do decide to be a.. thing, or whatever, I'd need to take it slow" Craig's eyes widened at that, a small smile forming as he nodded along, "Right now though, I'll respond to your little schoolgirl confession the only way I really understand how"
Craig was about to retaliate what Kenny had said, but suddenly lips were on his and he couldn't have cared less about some dumb phrasing. Craig tangled his hands into Kenny's unruly hair, kissing him back passionately. They broke apart before it got too heated, the raven boy seeming confused as to why, but then remembering what Kenny had said about taking it slow. He pulled the blonde back into an embrace and kissed into his soft hair. They stayed like that for a while, just enjoying each other's company.
Little did they feel the piercing of amber hues through a small crack in the doorway...

In which it's been another 2 months or so since the last chapter, and I just finished this chapter at 2:33am and my hands hurt so please try to ignore any errors. K thx ;;;)))))
*Also just wanted to add that I meant for it to be raining in the confession part of last chapter. I envisioned it in my head, like many other clichés in this story, but apparently didn't write that in? Ahh it's fine, you get the gist of it lmao
