We pulled up to the hotel JJ and I worked on the odd occasion, mainly in peak tourist season and they needed extra staff. I jumped out of the van.
"All right, keep a lookout. We're behind enemy lines." JJ said as I turned , resting my arms on the door where JJ had the window down. JJ pulled the gun up holding it, showing it to everyone. I gave him my best death glare.
"Yo, come on, man. Just put it back." John B told JJ.
"What?" JJ questioned looking between John B and I.
"JJ." i said shaking my head and stepping away from the van door.
"You can never be too careful." JJ said, looking back at Pope and Kie who were still in the back of the van.
Pope climbed out of the van and made his way over to JJ's door. "Hey, I predict that bringing a weapon to a four-star hotel will likely cause more problems than they solve." He said leaning in towards JJ.
"Thank you, Pope." Kie said leaning forward popping her head between JJ and John B who were still sitting in the front of the van. "I swear to God, I'm gonna throw that thing in the ocean, JJ." Kie said to JJ with a therenting tone before jumping from the van closing the door and joining me.
"Put it away and let's go already," I said. John B grabbed the gun from JJ and placed it in the glove box of the van before getting out and joining the rest of us.
"There you go. " Pope said, turning and walking over to Kie and i.
"You can't grab a gun like that. " JJ said to John B in protest.
"Can't forget my badge. Professional busboy. " JJ said, holding up his ID card before getting out of the van and running to catch up with us.
"So, where are we going now?" Pope questioned.
"We're getting on the internet" I answer, turning my head to face Pope who is walking behind Me and JJ. " because only rich people have electricity right now." JJ interjects.
"This way! " JJ said before he continued walking.
"Andrew!" JJ yelled as we walked past one of the other workers named Andrew. Him and JJ have a love hate relationship.
"All right?" Andrew askes wondering why we were at work.
I smiled and nodded to Andrew to which he just rolled his eyes.
"What's up, bro?" JJ said to one of the other guys we work with. Walking threw the kitchen like he owned it.
"Mama L, good to see you!" JJ said, trying to sneak food off the plate she was dishing up.
"Hey, no! JJ!" he said, slapping his hand away. "Leah" she said, giving me a quick hug before rushing to finish dishing the plates.
I pushed open the door to exit the kitchen and slammed right into someone.
"Ouch" I said, rubbing my head where I collided with the person.
"I'm sorry" i said looking up at the person i just smashed into.
"That alright I should have been paying more attention," he said, smiling down at me.
"Hey you were at the boneyard the other night." i said, remembering him from the other night. In this light he was pretty handsome. He had perciening green eyes and short slightly wavy brown hair. He was slightly taller than JJ but not by much.
"Yeah, I'm Matt," he said, holding his hand out in front of me.
I smiled at his outstretched hand reaching out to shake it ."Oh and i'm Leah." I said smiling up at him.
Leah I heard JJ yell in the distance.
"Sorry i have to go, it was nice seeing you again tho." I smiled at him before running off in the direction I heard JJ yelling from.
