there she sat on the swing. alone. a crying mess. not far from me.

she had just arrived at the public park not long ago. perhaps to meet with her now ex boyfriend on a little date. oh, how one's mood could swing so low in such a short period of time.

i saw it all go down and i wish i hadn't because now i'm walking towards her, my heart aching for her. her (ex) boyfriend had just broke up with her. he told her he was cheating and had been doing so for months with some other girl.

fucking jerk. i thought to myself as i approached her.

it was a good thing there weren't many people out at the park to witness what had went on. before the girl was a broken, sobbing mess, she was angered. so angered whenever he broke the news to her that she smacked him.

"hey! don't touch me!" her ex screamed at her after he was slapped. his cheek had reddened and he stepped away from her. "you don't know what i'm capable of! i could have you thrown in jail for that." he growled.

i understood why she had been so angry, but she had no right to slap him. he could've tried to be nicer about breaking up with her, though.

"hey, are you okay?" i asked. i hadn't meant to ask, knowing she wasn't okay, the words just slipped out of my lips. "ah, s-" i began, but she cut me off.

"what the h-" she parted her lips, a sniffle interrupting her. "hell? any person in their right mind wouldn't ask that. why would i be okay? tell me!" she yelled, moving her hands from her face and curling her pale fingers around the swing's chains, gripping them tightly.

"my bad.." i whispered. "i saw what happened. i'm sorry. he was a jerk.."

she glared at me as i finished speaking. "leave. i don't want to talk." she spoke and departed from the swing. she wavered before falling forward and landing against my chest.

"hey, hey." i whispered, curling my arms behind her back and hugging her. "it's gonna be okay. he says he was cheating. why waste tears over such a trashy being?" i questioned.

her breath hitched as she swiftly pulled away from my chest, leaving my arms wrapped around the air where she once stood.

"y-you're right." she admitted, her gaze averting to the ground. "yeah, you're right!" she said as she dried her tears with the backs of her hands. "psh, i'll be over him in no time!" she said, sniffling once again.

i smiled from ear to ear, for some reason happy to hear that. "good." i said.

"ah, i'm lei!" she introduced herself to me, stepping back so she had enough space between the two of us to lower her head to me.

"i'm minhyuk. lee minhyuk." i said, holding my hand out for her to shake it. she smiled brightly and inhaled. rather than shaking my hand, she inched closer to me and wrapped her arms around me, trapping me in a big hug.

the hug lasted for what i think was longer than she had intended because we both were a bit scared to pull away from one another's embrace. at least, i was. we just met and i already did not want to let her go. funny, huh?

she was the one to pull away, the smile from before remaining displayed on her face. "nice to meet you, minhyuk. lee minhyuk." she said, a brow quirked and her lips curled into a small grin.

i nodded and fished my phone out of one of my jacket pockets, checking the time. "ah! i have to go. would you like to keep in touch?" i asked, hoping in the back of my mind that she would agree to giving me her number.

please. i inhaled as i awaited a reply.

"hm." she mumbled inaudibly before nodding. "okay!" she said and pulled her phone out, passing it to me with a small grin. i quickly saved my contact information in her phone and pulled away from her before she could do the same with my phone. "i'll talk to you later!" i called over my shoulder as my long legs briskly carried me away from her.
