Third Person POV
"Aubrey! Get back here!" Aidan yelled, chasing his girlfriend on his roller skates.
"You'll fall!" The boy told her. Aubrey glanced back at him, sticking out her tongue.
Typical Aubrey. . . Aidan thought. In that exact moment, when Aidan was still shaking his head in exasperation, Aubrey's playful gaze still fixated on him. . . Aubrey collided with the wall. She fell to the ground with a shocked yelp.
"Aubrey! Are you okay, are you okay?" Aidan asked, standing over her. She gazed up at him from the floor, blinking her brilliant blue eyes and repositioning her glasses.
"I'm fine. Just a scraped knee. No big deal." Aidan peered down at her before scooping her up, bridal style.
"Hey!" Aubrey laughed.
"What are you doing? Put me down!" She demanded, although she was laughing so hard it was difficult to hear her.
Aidan set her on the bench outside the rink, unlacing his girl's skates before his own.
"I'm not helpless, you know!" Aubrey said, opening her mouth to continue.
"Shh." Aidan placed a finger to Aubrey's lips, and she blushed.
"Just let me take care of you."
Aubrey allowed Aidan to carry her to his truck, which, for some reason, he never let her drive. The boy drove back to his parents' house. His mother and father were gone for the weekend, so they had the house to themselves.
Aidan bandaged Aubrey's knee, he insisted on it, no matter how much she complained. Aidan made dinner for her, or, he at least warmed up the lasagna that his mother had left in the fridge and allowed her to eat it in his bed.
"Any more requests, my lady?" Aidan asked, doing a silly little bow. Aubrey broke down into giggles.
"Actually, I only tolerated this because you 'wanted to take care of me.'" Aubrey grinned. Surely she was the luckiest girl in the world.
"But. . . I do have one request."
. . .
For the next hour the two ran around the house, scouring the house of its pillows and blankets. Then, ever so carefully, stacked them on top of one another until they built a spectacular pillow fort. Aidan waited by the entrance.
"Ladies first." He said, following Aubrey inside. He turned on a flashlight and peered at the pillow fort's ceiling. So high that he could stand at full height and his head wouldn't bump it. He lay next to Aubrey, switching out the lights.
"Thank you. . . It's like a castle." Aubrey said, sleep tugging at her. Aidan kissed her gently and pulled her closer to him. He stroked her hair until she fell asleep.
Aidan smiled lightly.
"And you're the queen."
Short and sweet! They're adorable, don't you think? Ab 450 words
