Logan POV:

___________________

I'm sitting in the living room reading a book. Patton and Roman went to the dog park, Virgil is upstairs.

Virgil comes in sulking. He is wrapped in his trademark hoodie. His hood is up, and his steps seems slower than normal. He ignores me and goes to the kitchen, he makes himself some tea.

"How are you feeling?" I ask, this has become a habit of mine. Patton taught it to me.

I don't feel like talking now he signs

Yes, I did learn sign so Virgil could communicate even when he doesn't feel like talking. Your point?

"That is fine. Do you want to come read with me?" Most of the time if Virgil is feeling nonverbal then he wants affection.

He scratches at his neck and signs no.

"Do you want to watch a show? We can watch Buzzfeed Unsolved." I'm not fond of the show, but I know Virgil is.

No, I want to be alone now. He signs.

"Promise me you'll stay safe?"

He nods and trudges back upstairs.

I wait a few minutes until I hear the door to his room close. Then I make a bowl of hot ramen. I set it by his door, knock, then go back to reading downstairs.

Patton and Roman come back absolutely gushing about this one tiny poodle they saw.

"It was just so fluffy!" Patton squeals.

I smile at his antics. I'm not sure there is a single soul who could deny that Patton is the embodiment of all things good.

"Who's turn is it to cook?" Roman asks after Patton has calmed down a little bit.

Patton consults the chart on the fridge. "Virgil's turn."

"I'll cook." I offer when I hear that.

"Logan, it's Virgil's turn"

"I'm aware. Virgil is not feeling the best right now." I explain, moving into the kitchen.

"Do I need to go talk to him?" Patton asks.

"No, he'll be fine. It is best to let him be for now."

"Whatever you say Lo." Patton says.

"Patton, why don't we find something to do." Roman suggests. He knows I like the kitchen to myself when I cook.

"Ooh! Let's build a Lego castle!"

"Race you!" Roman starts running up the stairs. Patton follows behind with complaints about the fairness of the race.

Dinner doesn't take me that long to cook, about half an hour. I serve up three bowls then go to check on Virgil.

I knock on the door. It takes him a minute, but he opens it for me.

I would guess he was sleeping from the way he rubs at his eye with his hoodie paws.

It takes me a moment to remember what I came up here for. But when I do I ask him "I have dinner made downstairs, do you want to join us?"

Virgil hesitates at first, but then nods and follows behind me.

I serve another bowl then go and get Patton and Roman.

Patton and Roman chat on and on about various topics, Virgil is still feeling nonverbal, but he actively watches and listens Patton and Roman's conversation.

I'm worried about him. Normally when he's nonverbal it's just for a few hours, then he's back to normal.

After dinner Patton and Roman do the dishes, Virgil sit's in the corner scrolling on his phone.

I sit a respectable, but close, distance from him and continue reading my book.

Patton and Roman suggest a movie night, to which no-one disagrees. Roman puts in a Disney movie, Mulan. Then curls under a blanket with Patton.

Virgil puts away his phone and moves closer to me. I open my arms and blanket. He cuddles close to me, but he doesn't look at me.

Virgil falls asleep on me during the movie. He hasn't woken even after it finished. Patton and Roman say their goodnights and retire to their rooms for the night.

I stay where I am. Virgil has his arms wrapped around my waist, his head is against my chest. If I were to move he would wake up, I know that he needs the sleep.

I read on my phone for a while, since my book is outside of my reach. I run my hand through his hair. It's a comfortable scene until Virgil starts fidgeting.

His arms tighten around my waist. His head turns from side to side, it seems like he's trying to burrow into my chest. His breathing quickens. My shirt becomes wet from his silent tears.

I sit up straighter and wrap my arms around him.

"Virgil, I need you to wake up. You'll be okay. I'm here."
