The Wedding Vows

After Harvey's proposal hindi muna kami naghanda at nagplano sa kasal dahil ang focus muna namin ay trabaho. We have enough money naman but Harvey wants that before we marry dapat may bahay na kami. Which is, okay lang sa akin.

Almost three years din ang hinintay ko para maghanda na sa kasal. We already have three-storey house and coffee shops na may tatlong branch na. Yes, we're stable na. Wedding nalang.

While organizing the wedding, hindi ko mapigilang isipin na kaya pala isang beses lang kinakasal ang babae dahil hindi sa pera, kung hindi dahil sa mga kailangang gawin!

I have to take a leave para maging hands-on sa kasal namin. Harvey wants to take a leave too but I didn't agree. Kaya ko na naman ito. Well...kinda.

From the wedding dress, foods and souvenirs, our papers, place for the wedding and for the reception halos ako lahat ang umaasikaso. I wanted a garden wedding.

I can't help but to be teary-eyed.

For how many years, here we are. He's here beside me. Crying tears of joy. Like me. Imagine we've been like eight years?

This is our ultimate dream. To be as one. All our struggles and fights were all worth it.

"Irene, first of all I want to say thank you for being with me for almost a decade. Even though sometimes I'm hard to be with and moody. I'm very thankful that you chose me as your partner 'til you grow old. You don't know how happy I am seeing you here with me.

I promise to be a good husband and a good father to our children. A loving and understanding husband to you. I will cherish every moment. I know there will be times that we'll fight, we'll have misunderstanding but I swear to you, I will be more patient and understanding. I would do everything just to have you for a lifetime."

I sobbed but I tried my hardest to smile. This man. This man will be my partner for the rest of my life. Could I get any luckier? He's almost perfect. Goal-oriented. Kind and understanding. Matalino at maabilidad. Bonus nalang na gwapo, matangkad, laging mabango at may abs! Thank you, Lord for this man.

"I love you, Harvey. I love you. Sobrang swerte ko sa'yo. Hindi mo lang alam pero ako iyong sobrang thankful dahil asawa na kita. I don't think there's still a living man that can stay with me like how you stayed. Sa sobrang gulo at weird ko ba naman. Actually, I have no plan to tell you this pero sasabihin ko na. First day palang natin as college students, crush na kita," umiiyak pero humahagikgik na sabi ko. Pati ang mga bisita na nanonood ay natawa rin.

"Bawal lumaki ulo ha? Pero seryoso, Thank you for keeping up with me. Thank you for your never ending patience for me. You've been my boyfriend, best friend. Kung pwede lang palitan si Tatay feeling ko ginawa mo na e," natatawa ko ulit na sabi sabay baling kay Tatay at nag-peace sign. "Starting this day, I will love you more. Cherish you more. Appreciate you more. I'm very thankful that you're going to be the father of my future children. I can't trust my future and my children's future to anyone else but you. I'll try my very best na bawasan na ang mga bad traits ko kasi nakakahiya naman sa'yo," I chuckled. After our garden wedding, dumiretso na kaming lahat sa reception. Isang restaurant na hindi gaano kalayo sa pinag-dausan ng kasal.

I can't believe it! Kasal na ako! With my dream guy. Never ko talaga na-imagine ang sarili ko na iba ang kasama sa altar. It has always been Harvey. Sobrang thank you talaga, Lord.

Kung ano-ano ang pinag-gagagawa namin sa reception. Well, nilubos-lubos ko na rin dahil after nito, we'll be focusing na sa sarili naming pamilya. Plus, luluwas pa kami papuntang Coron, Palawan para sa two weeks honeymoon namin. Ako rin ang nag-plano nito.

Tahimik kaming nakaupo ni Harvey sa make-shift stage at tatawa-tawang pinagmamasdan ang mga bisita. All of my hard work for this day just to be perfect was totally worth it. But kung uulitin ko ulit 'to for the second time. Ayoko na. Kasal na kami, bakit pa?

Hinawakan bigla ni Harvey ang kamay ko. Nagtatanong ko siyang tinignan. "Thank you for this, Irene."
