Chapter 9

Oralbella's point of view:

I screamed and rush outside. I look up from the stairs to see my brothers coming up but abruptly stopped when they heard a gunshot. I said to myself David is not here. I look at the third floor and start running there. I heard footsteps after me. I hear Francisco saying: "princess come back! What happened?"

I ignore the shoutings of my brothers and rush towards the door. A bulky man was about to stop me but abruptly stop when he saw me. I rush towards the nearest wooden door and open it. I look to see David standing there with his hand behind his back. Tears were already streaming out of my eyes. I ran towards him and hug his waist tightly. He quickly put something in his drawer and put a hand on top of my head and cares about it. I hear Vincenzo shouting: "what the hell was that?"

David calmly asks Michael: "what happened? I heard a gunshot."

Michael sighed and said: "they are looking at it and we rush after her because she screamed from her room and then we heard a gunshot and now we are here"

I break the hug but still latched to him. I put my hands on both of my ears and said while hiccuping: "I'm sorry."

His eyes softened and said: "it's ok but your punishment is to hold on to your phone ok?"

I nodded and hug him tightly.

I hear James saying: "what happened baby why did you scream."

I started to mumble but they were unable to hear it so David pick me up and made me sit at the table. I hug him by placing my hands around his neck. He break the hug and said: "what happened?"

I sobbed loudly and said: "I was going outside of my room to say sorry to you but then suddenly my closet door opened and froze there and your photo comes out with a red cross on it. I look at it and then suddenly the closet door closed loudly and I screamed and when I rushed outside to look for you but you were not there and then I heard a gunshot I thought something happened to you so I came here. I'm sorry for breaking so many rules. I don't know what happened to me at the dining table and I came here even though you forbid me to come here. It's all my fault."

He said: "and how is this whole thing is your fault?"

I pouted while crying and said: "because I told you to go and die. I'm sorry."

I hugged him and he cares my back. He tried to break through from my hug but I tightened it.

Damon said: "she's right there is a picture in her room."

I look back to see him showing that pic to everyone and quickly hug David.

I heard Michael saying: "David why don't you just take her with you and let her sleep with you in your room. She's scared out of her mind and I don't think she's going to let you go out of her sight anytime soon."

David sighed and pick me up. I put my legs around his chest and hide my face in the crook of his neck. We walked towards his room and he placed me on his bed. He was about to stand up and I stop him by holding his suit jacket and said: "where are you going?"

He smiled and said: "I'm going to change. I'll be back after 10 minutes."

I nodded and let him go. I took my time to see his bedroom. It is so clean and black with a little white shade. He come back and lay beside me. I sit up straight. He was about to say something but stop abruptly when he saw me laying on his front. My head is placed on his chest. He cares my head and said: "what are you thinking?"

I whispered: "I'm thinking that I'm going to protect you."

He said: "how?"

I bit my lips said: "I'm going to stop the angel from coming Toulouse whispered: "and what if he didn't stop?"

I pouted and said: "then I'm going to tell him to take me instead."

He chuckled softly which made me look at him with a shocked face because this is my first time hearing him laugh. He look at me with soft eyes and I grinned at him. I quickly hug him with my face planted with his chest and said: "you are my favorite."

He said: "what?"

I smiled to myself and said: "you are my favorite brother. I know favoritism is bad but it's just that you are my hero, my role model. There is something in you that made me respect you. I want to have your calm face the way you hide your emotions even in difficult times and your aura of intimidation."

He just hummed and I hear his words saying: "you are my lifeline gattina (kitten)."

Maybe I have finally found myself a home. Then everything went dark.

Morning

I woke with immense pain in my stomach. I slowly sit on David who is still fast asleep. I look down to see red on my pajama shorts and David's shirt. I bit my lips to stop myself from crying out loud. I know that I have started my period and this is my first period but in this way, is so embarrassing. I started to cry silently and tears started to pour out of my eyes. The droplets drop on David's shirt which made him stir in his sleep. He opened his eyes and look at me and said: "Why are you crying?"

I started to sob loudly and said: "I'm sorry"

He sighed and said: "it's ok I'm not mad about your yesterday stunt."

I shook my head and look down. He also looks down and his eyes narrowed and then he sighed and sit up straight on his lap. He pick me up and made me stand up on the floor.  I look at him with teary eyes and he went inside his walk-in closet.

He did disgust with the next thing he did make me shocked. He came back with a shirt and tie it around my waist and look at me with soft eyes and said: "go to your room dolcezza (sweetie) and I am not mad about this."
