She debated it for a while. She really did. Played what could possibly go wrong over and over in her mind, but it didn't matter. She wanted to see him again.
Bakugou thought about her, too. He wanted to see her again, but there was no way that his ego was ever going to let him make the first move. He's supposed to come off like he doesn't care. And he doesn't, for the most part.
Even so, Akane made her way up that stupid hill, standing in the front of U.A. High School. The school was huge and intimidating, and once she made it, she already had it set in her mind that she wouldn't even try to go inside.
It was too bad that when she turned around to leave, she bumped right into a strong chest, which knocked her off her feet. To her surprise it was Sero, the boy with the memorable smile.
"I'm sorry!" He apologized, setting the grocery bags he was carrying on one arm to hold his hand out and help her up.
"It's fine! I should have looked up." She shrugged. She looked at the multiple bags being held in his arms, "Do you want some help?"
"Sure!" He smiled, "You're here to see Bakugou, right?"
"Well, I was..." She tells him, looking away shyly, "I forgot to ask for his number. I didn't know how else to see him. Now I feel like some stalker for showing up here."
"Don't worry about it. It's not weird. Sooner or later one of you was going to have to bite the bullet and visit the other." He told her, and something about his tone of voice made Akane feel immediately better, "Can't believe that idiot didn't get your number."
"Well, to be fair, I didn't get his either." She said, rubbing the back of her neck in embarrassment.
"Yeah, but you already asked him out. It was his turn to make the move." He explains, "And here you are making the first move again. What are we going to do with him?'
Akane realized that she really liked Sero. He was funny, and sweet, and it was strange to think about him being Bakugou's friend. But she liked to think that even though the two of them were different, they could still be friends.
He took her to the dorms, stopping by his homeroom teacher's office to ask if Akane was allowed to stay for a few hours. The dorms were nice, exactly what she'd expected from a school like U.A. When she walked in, the first person she recognized was Mina.
"Akane!" She called to her with a sweet smile and a wave. She was sitting with another girl with short brown hair and a cute round face. Akane smiled back, following Sero to the kitchen to drop the grocery bags off.
"Hi, Mina." She smiled, as the girl pulled her into a hug. Even though she'd only met the girl once, it didn't feel weird to be this friendly with her. It was far more than she'd ever got from her own friends."You're here to see Bakugou, right?" She asked with a smirk.
"Bakugou?" The girl beside Mina asked, surprised."Oh! Ochako, this is Akane. Bakugou saved her life." Mina explained to the confused girl.
"Hey! Racoon eyes! Stop telling everyone my business!" Bakugou's voice was loud, commanding everyone's attention. Akane noticed that he was in what looked to be his hero uniform, with gauntlets around his hands, and an orange 'X' over his chest. The girl couldn't help but stare at his arms. Behind him, Kirishima walked wearing his hero uniform as well.
"Technically, it's Akane's business too." Mina sassed.
"Well, stop sharing her business, too!" He defended. His eyes met Akane's and he nods his head towards her. "What are you doing here""I, um," She started, feeling a little nervous being around his classmates, "I wanted to see you. I didn't get your number the other night."
"Tch. Stalker." He teases her, but there's no real hurt behind his words. She blushes.
"I can't believe Bakugou is making a cute girl blush right now." Akane heard Ochako whisper to Mina.
"Shut up, round face!" He yells, but the girl seems used to it.
"Nice costumes." Akane tells the two boys in front of her.
"Thanks! We're about to go train." Kirishima tells her, "Do you wanna come?""Oh I can stay here with Mina. I don't want to be a distraction-" Akane tells him, but Bakugou cuts her off.
"You won't be. Come on." He tells her, pulling her by the wrist to follow him. She turns to give the girls a wave before she's drug completely out the door.
The three of them entered a gym, and Akane admired how large it was. The school kept surprising her. She sat against the farthest end of the gym, so she wouldn't get hit by Bakugou or Kiri as they spared with each other.
She watched the boys in fascination as they came at each other with full force. She'd seen Bakugou use his explosions before, but Kiri's quirk was new to her. She could barely keep up with how quick the boys were, explosions clouding the place, as Bakugou jumped through the air. She watched them fight for multiple rounds, keeping score as Bakugou won most of them. When the two of them were finished fighting, Bakugou came to sit next to Akane on the ground.
"See you later, Akane!" Kirishima called, as he left through the door to the gym, pouring a water bottle over his head. She waved to him with a smile, and turned to a panting Bakugou beside her.
"You're amazing." Akane gushed, "You both are."
"I'm better, though." He said, leaning his head back against the wall as he caught his breath.
"Well, you won more rounds than him." She told him.
"You were keeping score?" He asked, smirking."Well, yeah. What else was I gonna do?" She nudges him with her shoulder. "I'm serious. You're incredible. You completely understand your quirk. You know exactly what to do. They're training you guys pretty well here, huh?"
"They better be." He scoffed, "I'm gonna be number one someday."
"I believe it." She tells him, because she does. She hadn't seen any of his other classmate's in action before today, but something in her knew. "So, how does it work? The explosions."
She opened her hands the way Bakugou does when he fires, making explosion noises as she mimicked him. He pushed away from the wall, to sit right in front of her. Opening his hands, he faced his palms so that Akane could look at them.
"I sweat nitroglycerin. It's what causes the explosions." He explained. Akane reached her hands out, taking one of his hands and running her fingers along his palm.
"What the fuck?" She whispered, examining his hands. She takes the opportunity to intertwine their fingers, then, and Bakugou doesn't pull away.
"You're so cool." She tells him, playing with his fingers in her lap, "You're so fucking cool, Bakugou."
"I know." He says, and this time he smiles.
