Once upon a time, there lived two princesses. Princess Evie: a beautiful princess with long dark hair, and magical dancing feet, and Princess Rosie: a beautiful princess with big blue eyes, and a funny sense of humour. They lived in the Kingdom of Xylia. Their castle had hot pink turrets with ivy creeping up the sides, and pale purple flags that flapped in the wind, a ring of water guarded the castle from intruders, and the only entrance was across the golden drawbridge controlled by soldiers. The princesses shared the largest bedroom! Walls decorated with unicorns and fairies, two king-sized beds hidden beneath white lace curtains, that draped around the whole bed. It really was a grand bedroom!
It was a rainy day in the Kingdom of Xylia, and the wind whistled and the rain pitter pattered around the castle. Princess Evie and Princess Rosie were playing with the new toys their father had bought them. A rocking unicorn for Rosie to play on, and some LOL dolls for Evie to play with. As time flew by, the princesses began to get bored stuck in their bedrooms. The rain continued to fall, but the sun was still shining. Evie peered outside the window and up at the sky. High up in the sky was a rainbow with the most vibrant colours! Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet!
"Look Rosie!" Evie exclaimed, gesturing towards the rainbow.
Rosie looked up at the sky and spotted the rainbow.
"Wow! It's so beautiful!" Rosie said.
"I wish we could go outside and see it properly." Evie sighed.
Rosie sat back down at glanced at their wardrobe.
"Evie! Rosie declared, "I have an idea!"
Evie turned her head to watch as her sister searched their wardrobe.
"Found them!" Rosie exclaimed, joyfully, holding out a pair of raincoats, rainhats, and Wellington boots.
"You're a genius!" Evie shouted, rushing to put on her rainy day outfit. "But how do we sneak past the guards?" Evie asked.
"We could climb out of the kitchen window?" Rosie said, a hint of doubt in her voice.
"That would work," Evie replied, "It's only a couple of metres from the ground."
"What about the moat?" Rosie questioned.
The princesses looked around the room, trying to find something useful for their problems. Evie looked under the bed, whilst Rosie looked inside the closet. Nothing under the bed was any use, but the closet was much more helpful. Just as Evie was about to give up, Rosie pulled out a long wooden plank.
"Look what I found!" Rosie shouted, excitedly. "We could use it as a bridge to cross the moat."
A smile grew on Evie's face.
"Good find!" Evie patted her sister on the back and they made their journey to the kitchen. Creeping down the stairs, careful not to draw any attention, the princesses scanned the castle for any guards.
"The coast is clear." Evie whispered, peeking around the corner.
As they entered the kitchen, Rosie gently released the latch on the window and opened it far enough to let them sneak out. With Evie guarding the doors on lookout, Rosie quietly dropped the plank down, ready to use as a bridge. She climbed out first, Evie still on lookout, and placed the plank across the moat. It just about reached the other side! Signalling to her sister to join her, Rosie overheard Evie talking to a guard.
"Why are you dressed up in rainy day clothes, your majesty?" A guard asked.
"Rosie and I were playing a sailing game, and we wanted to look the part." Evie replied, without a hint of nervousness.
"May I ask what you are doing in the kitchen, your majesty?" The guard questioned, politely.
"We were quite thirsty, so I came to fetch us both a glass of water." Evie replied.
"My sincerest apologies, your majesty." The guard remarked.
"You are forgiven." Evie said, walking to the sink.
When the guard finally disappeared, Evie began climbing out of the window.
"Golly, that was a close one!" Evie panted, after jumping down.
She fastened the latch on the window, and joined her sister.
"You hold the plank to keep it sturdy, and I'll walk along it first." Rosie ordered.
"Ok." Evie replied, impressed by her sister's bossiness.
As soon as Rosie was safe on the other side and holding the end of the plank, Evie began balancing on the beam. Once they were both safely out of the castle and the castle gates, they started wandering around the edge of the castle walls; both searching for the best view of the rainbow. The rain grew heavy on their heads, and as their feet squelched in the last few inches of the border, the princesses came to a halt.
"Do you see what I see?" Rosie gasped.
"Y-y-ye-yes!" Evie stammered, her jaw dropping.
In front of them stood a large oak door ,with no wall around it, and behind that the beginning of the rainbow.
"This is amazing!" Rosie gasped again. "But I thought there would be a pot of gold."
"Me too." Evie said. "But it could be behind the door..."
Evie and Rosie looked at each other and nodded. They reached for the doorknob and twisted it to the side. It made a subtle click, and creaked open. Evie pushed it further open and peered inside. Rosie quickly followed. They couldn't believe their eyes. Behind the door was a whole new world. A world where flying pigs existed, and lions could sing, and mice could deliver, and chairs could walk. The princesses closed the door behind them, and explored the fairytale they were experiencing. Rosie roared with the lions, and Evie danced with the monkeys.
Not long after they had started exploring and playing, they were greeted by the most magnificent creature in the room. It had a fluffy white coat that gleamed in the sun, a silver mane that flowed along it's neck like a waterfall down a cliff, golden hoofs so clean you could see your own reflection, big brown eyes like hazelnut pools, and a rainbow horn that sparkled with magic. It was a unicorn! The princesses blinked their eyes repetitively, in shock and awe.
"Nice to meet you Evie and Rosie. We have been expecting you!" Said the unicorn, cheerfully.
"Y-y-you...ha-a-have?" Stuttered Evie, speechless.
"How do you know our names?" Rosie asked, confidently, trying to hide her squeals of joy.
"Well, I'm a unicorn...I'm magic!" Stated the unicorn. "Please, call me Hank. I will give you a tour of the place."
"Thank you, Hank!" Evie remarked, politely. "Where exactly are we?"
"You are in Utopia! The place where anything can happen!" Hank explained, proudly.
"A-a-anything?!" Rosie questioned, not so confidently this time.
"Yep, that's what I said, anything!" Hank replied. "Please follow me!"
"As much as we would love to explore further, we really must get headimg home. Our parents will wonder where we are, and we would be grounded for a long time." Evie sighed.
"No worries, in Utopia, time stops. Your parents won't even realise you are gone!" Hank replied.
"That's so cool!" Rosie shouted, amazed.
"Please, follow me this way!" Hank said, leading the girls to the nearest room.
They followed hank into a room filled with butterflies of all shapes, colours, and sizes. There were rainbow butterflies, glittery butterflies, pink and purple butterflies, and any butterfly you could imagine in one room!
The next room was filled with slime! Shark poop slime, fluffy slime, sticky slime, crunchy slime, cloud slime, and any slime you could imagine in one room!
The next room was filled with junk. And not the junk you find in the bin. But junk food! Ice-cream with any flavour and topping in a cone or tub, piles of chocolate bars with any flavour and brand, and packets of sweets creating a mountain of heaven! Any sweets you could imagine in one room!
After wiping the drool from around their mouths, Hank led them to the next room. It was filled with LOL dolls! Any hair colour you could imagine! There were colour changing dolls, animal dolls, swimming dolls, accessories and outfits of all styles, colours, shapes, and sizes, and any LOL doll you could imagine in one room!
When the girls finally stopped staring at their dream rooms, Hank lead them to the final room.
"We have to go up this elevator to visit the final room!" Hank explained. "This rooms my favourite!"
"What's inside it?" Rosie asked, excitedly.
"Is it more unicorns?" Asked Evie, joyfully.
"Be patient." Hank laughed.
He pressed all the buttons in the elevator at the same time, and they felt their feet sway side to side as the elevator moved around them. Oddly, the elavator didn't just move up and down, but side to side aswell! Up and down, left and right, the three travelled through Utopia. The elevator had glass walls, so they could see everything around them. They saw crocodiles playing chess, and gorillas doing cartwheels, and even a giraffe reading a newspaper on the toilet! Who knew an elevator ride could make you laugh so much! As the elevator came to a halt, there was a high-pitched ding, as the elevator doors opened into the most spectacular room in any world!
"We call this the Rainbow Room!" Hank smiled.
The Rainbow Room it was indeed! Inside was the start of the rainbow! But instead of looking faint and blurry, up close, it looked as though you could walk along it!
"This is where your quest will begin." Hank explained. "Your armour is just in that room to your left."
"Our quest?!" Evie pondered.
"You are the chosen ones!" Hank explained again. "You will travel along the rainbow and have 5 quests you will complete."
"Chosen ones?!" Rosie wandered.
"Yes. You see, Utopia is in danger. Another world called Sophoria is threatening to destroy us. And if they do, all unicorns, rainbows, and animals will disappear forever! You two are our only hope! So...challenge accepted?" Hank asked, more nervous than the princesses have ever seen anyone before.
The two sisters shared a look and replied in unison, "Challenge accepted!"
Hank sighed a sigh of relief.
"Yay woo woo woo!" He cheered!
The girls cheered with him and then headed for the room Hank had directed them to. "I wonder what Hank means by armour?" Asked Rosie. "Does he mean like guards or warriers?"
"Both would be really cool!" Evie remarked. "Here goes nothing..."
Evie twisted the doorknob until it clicked, and then pushed it open.
"Hey, hey, hey! You must be Princess Evie and Princess Rosie! I'm here to fix you up with armour, tools, and weapons! Hi my name's Yonkee the Donkey, but you can call me Yonkee!" Yonkee explained, happily.
"Hi Yonkee, did you say weapons?" Evie questioned, nervously.
"You bet I did!" Yonkee replied, just as happily.
"What kind of weapons?" Rosie asked, curiously.
"Just a sword, nothing too damgerous. Every great adventurer has a sword!" Yonkee answered.
"Ok, can mine be a galaxy sword?!" Rosie pleaded, hopefully.
"It can be any colour you want!" Yonkee replied.
"In that case, can mine be a rainbow coloured sword?!" Evie pleaded aswell.
"Sure it can!" Yonkee replied again.
"When my hands begin to glow,
A sword will appear the colour of a rainbow!" Yonkee chorused.
Magically, a sword the colour of a rainbow appeared in Yonkee's hoofs.
"For you, your majesty." Yonkee bowed, as he placed the sword in Evie's hands.
"Omg! It's perfect!" Evie squealed, so happily!
"Now Princess Rosie,
A sword in my hoof the colour of a galaxy!" Yonkee sang.
As if out of nowhere, a sword the colour of a galaxy appeared in Yonkee's hoofs.
"For you, your majesty." Yonkee bowed again.
"I never knew a sword could be so pretty!" Rosie exclaimed, so amazed.
"Next on the list is a tool. Any tool of your choice, you can have. But pick carefully, you can only choose one!" Yonkee explained, seriously this time.
"I think I know mine! Evie said. "I would like a lassoo!"
"One excellent choice made by you,
I now behold one lassoo!" Yonkee hummed.
Suddenly, there was a bright flash, and a lassoo was wrapped around Evie's right shoulder, for emergencies.
"Woah!" Evie shouted, excited!
"Ooh! I've just though of my tool!" Rosie remarked. "A jet pack!"
"All of a sudden you will wear on your back,
One very awesome jet pack!" Yonkee tuned.
In the blink of an eye, Rosie was carrying a jet pack on her back. The straps fastened across her arms and were covered in fluff to make it soft and comfortable.
"This is so amazing!" Rosie exclaimed!
"And now last but definately not least, your armour. The style is the same but the colour and jewels are entirely your choice." Yonkee explained.
"Ummm, well I want rainbow coloured armour, and the jewel will be...opal!" Rosie said.
"Rainbow armour is your choice for battle,
And your choice of jewel is the shimmering opal." Yonkee chimed.
All of a sudden, Rosie's rainy day outfit transformed into a rainbow coloured armour, lined with opals of every colour!
"Look how shiny I am!" Rosie gasped!
"My turn!" Evie said excitedly. "I want a galaxy armour, and the jewel of my choice is a ruby!"
"A galaxy coloured armour would be really cool,
Especially as it's lined with ruby jewels!" Yonkee projected.
Automatically, Evie was tramsformed into a proper warrior! She felt amazing!
"You were right! This is cool!" Evie squealed with joy!
"I'm afraid my work is done, which means your journey begins. Oh wait, before I forget, here is a controller, every button has a use. Your armour isn't just to protect you, all of these buttons will help you on your quest. Good luck, your majesties! It has been my pleasure to work and meet you!" Yonkee exclaimed, sadly.
A sad look cast across their faces.
"Will we ever see you again, Yonkee?" Evie asked.
"We will miss you!" Rosie exclaimed.
"Of course you will see me again!" Replied Yonkee.
The three hugged goodbye, and then the princesses left.
"Princesses, before you go, I want to wish you good luck!" Hank said.
He gestured for a hug and the girls had the fluffiest hug they had ever had!
"Goodbye, Hank! We will miss you!" Both princesses said.
After saying their goodbyes, the princesses headed to the start of the rainbow. Rosie stepped on it first, but it was too slippy! She tried again, but continued to slip. Evie tried next, but she too kept slipping off it! It was like a big slide! They looked around for anything of use, but all they could see was a big sign that read, 'Quest 1, the Slippery Slope!'
"This must be our first quest!" Evie stated. "We have to figure out a way to climb the rainbow!"
"What about the buttons Yonkee gave us?" Asked Rosie. "Maybe one of them makes our boots have grip?"
"Good idea!" Evie said. "But which button do we press? The red, yellow, or blue button."
"I'm not sure how to choose." Rosie sighed.
They both looked up at the blue sign, and then looked at each other.
"Blue!" They chorused together.
Evie pressed the blue button, and they both felt taller. They looked at their boots, and saw a layer of grips so strong, they could climb the rainbow. As the girls walked up the beginning of the rainbow, they could see another sign. But this one was green.
"There are no green buttons!" Evie said, confused.
"Maybe we don't need to use a button." Rosie replied.
The sign read, 'Quest 2, Rodeo oh Rodeo!'
"Doesn't a rodeo mean-" Evie began.
But before she could finish asking her question, Evie was interrupted my the sound of feet stomping towards them. They looked ahead of them, and saw a bull charging towards them.
"Oh no!" Rosie cried. "What do we do now?!"
The princesses panicked as they tried to find something of use to save them.
"My lassoo!" Evie shouted. "I can lassoo the bull and we can use it as a ride to the next quest!"
"Good idea!" Rosie said.
Evie swung the lassoo round and round and round and round. The bull was still chasing them! Evie threw the hoop of the lassoo, and it wrapped around the bull's horns.
"Yes!" The princesses screamed.
The bull halted and the girls climbed on.
"Quest 2 completed!" Rosie squealed.
"Mr Bull, please take us to Quest 3!" Evie asked, politely.
The bull nodded and trotted off to the next quest. After a few minutes of trotting, a yellow sign came into view.
"Thank you, Mr Bull!" The girls said.
The bull walked back to Quest 2, this time more slowly.
As the girls walked closer to the sign, it read, 'Quest 3, Winter Wonderland!'
"That sounds fun!" Evie said, joyfully.
"Maybe we could build a snowman?!" Rosie replied, excitedly.
They walked further into the quest, and heard a fierce whustle and a hum.
"Christmas carol singers?" Rosie questioned, worriedly.
"More like a snowstorm!" Evie answered.
"Uh oh!" They cried.
As the snowstorm neared, the temperature dropped.
"A-a-a-are y-y-y-you c-c-c-cold?" Rosie stammered.
"F-f-f-freezing." Evie replied.
"P-p-p-press t-t-t-the y-y-y-yellow b-b-b-button." Rosie stuttered.
"O-o-o-ok." Evie shivered, using all her might to press the button.
In an instant, they started to feel warm again.
"It must be a heat warmer!" Rosie exclaimed, greatful for Yonkee's design.
"Much better!" Evie said, her shiver disappearing.
"We should head to Quest 4 now." Rosie ordered.
Walking to the next quest, the girls tried to imagine the next challenge they would have to complete.
"A sandstorm!" Rosie remarked.
"No, we have already had a storm." Evie stated. "What about a maze!?"
"That would be very difficult." Rosie replied.
Before they could say any of their other ideas, a sign appeared. It read, 'Quest 4, the Sharp Skyscrapers!'
"Skyscrapers means there is something tall." Rosie said.
"But I hate to imagine what sharp means!" Evie worried.
They took a few steps forwards, and suddenly a large shadow stood in front of them. They looked up and saw three large spikes towering in front of them. There was no possible way to climb them or weave through them.
"How are we going to get up there?" Evie asked, pointing up at the largest spike in the middle.
"UP!" Rosie shouted, an idea forming in her mind.
"That's what I said." Evie replied, confused.
"My jet pack!" Rosie shouted, proud of her idea.
"Well done!" Evie said. "But there is only one jetpack."
"Oh yeah." Rosie thought. "Hold on to me."
"Ok." Evie said, even more confused.
She obeyed her sister and held on tightly. Rosie pressed the button of her jet pack, and they flew higher than the spikes. Once they were over the spikes, they flew back down.
"That was so cool!" Evie screamed.
"Quest 4, completed." Rosie exclaimed.
Princess Evie and Princess Rosie skipped to the next quest. They reached a red sign, but they couldn't see anything but darkness behind it. The sign read, 'Quest 5, Nothing but Darkness!'
The girls looked at each other, panicked.
"I don't like the dark." Rosie whispered.
"Me neither." Evie replied.
"Try pressing the red button, it might turn into a torch." Rosie said.
Evie pressed the red button, and in just a few moments, sparkles came out of their swords.
"Our swords must be like glow sticks!" Evie screamed, waving her sword in swirls.
"Look how pretty it is!" Rosie screamed back, pretending to be a wizard waving it's wand.
As they jumped and skipped, waving their swords in the air, a light appeared at the end of the darkness.
"We must have reached the end." Evie said.
They turned their swords off and headed back down the rainbow.
"Not so fast!" Shouted a deep voice.
"Who's there?" Evie asked bravely.
All of a sudden, a big scary ogre appeared from the darkness.
"I am Todd, the King of Sophoria, and you will never save Utopia!" Todd boomed.
He was the scariest ogre the girls could ever had imagined! He had long yellow nails and big pointy ears. He had a long dirty beard with spiders and bugs crawling around it, and a big bogey hanging from his snotty nose.
"Sorry Todd, but we have already completed all 5 quests!" Evie said, putting her hands on her hips.
"We have already saved Utopia!" Rosie said, crossing her arms.
"Not until you have defeated me!" Todd replied smugly.
The girls paused for a moment to think of a plan. Evie whispered her plan to Rosie and they took a deep breath in to prepare.
"Todd, who's that figure coming out from the darkness?" Evie said slyly.
As soon as Todd turned around, Rosie flew high in the sky, using her jet pack, and Evie lassooed Todd until he was all tied up. Their plan had worked!
"You think you're so clever." Chuckled Todd. "But to defeat me, I can't be on the rainbow."
The girls were shocked, because they had captured him! Surely that means they had defeated him already! Evie asked Rosie to distract Todd so she could think of a plan.
"Why do you want to destroy Utopia anyway?" Rosie asked, buying time for Evie to think. "It's a much better place than Sophoria." She continued. "If you're the leader, then I wouldn't want to visit."
"Utopia did this to me." Todd replied. "I used to be a human, but they turned me into a monster!"
"You aren't a monster because you don't look appealing, you're a momster because of your actions!" Rosie said.
Blocking out Rosie's distractions, Evie searched her armour and controller for any clues. Her armour was still the same, but she found another button on the back of the controller. It was a black button and had a label taped over it, with tiny writing on it. She could only just make out the words, 'To use, hold out your sword and push this button. EMERGENCY USE ONLY!" It was an emergency, but what would it do to Todd?
"Rosie, watch out!" Evie warned. "And point your sword at Todd!"
Rosie was confused, but listened to her sister and pointed her sword at Todd.
"3...2...1!" Evie called.
She pressed the button and closed her eyes. When she opened them again, Todd was gone!
"Where did he go?!" Rosie asked, searching the rainbow.
"I'm not su-" Evie said, but stopped because she heard something. "Do you hear that?"
"Hear what?" Asked Rosie, cupping her ears to try and listen better.
"A squeaking noise." Evie replied, now on her knees in search for what was causing this noise. "It's Todd!" She yelled.
"Todd?!" Rosie questioned, joining her sister on her knees.
"The button must have shrunk him!" Evie replied.
"What did you do to me?!" Squeaked Todd, now the size of an ant. "I won't let you get away with this!!!"
The two princesses laughed and laughed, until they couldn't breathe anymore.
"I'm not off the rainbow yet!" Todd continued to squeak.
"We'll see about that!" Rosie said, and she flicked Todd off the castle!
They heard a final squeal as the big ogre flew in the air.
"We did it!" They chorused. "We saved Utopia!!!"Princess Evie and Princess Rosie hugged each other tightly! They had saved Utopia! Unicorns, rainbows, and animals were saved! They were real life superheroes! They marched down the rainbow, singing happily. As they reached the bottom, they saw the same door they had when they first entered Utopia.
"This must be the exit." Rosie said, pointing at the door.
"Are you ready to go home?" Asked Evie.
"Yeah, let's go home!" Rosie replied.
They turned the doorknob and stepped outside, into the Kingdom of Xylia.
"Goodbye Utopia!" They said. "We will come back soon!"
They shut the door behind them and walked around the edge of their castle, talking about the amazing events of that day! They walked and talked until they reached the castle gates. Slowly opening the gates, Evie and Rosie snuck into the castle, and over to where they had left their plank. It had stopped raining, and Utopia had disappeared. They looked down from the sky and back at the plank, they quickly tip toed across, Evie went first this time, and then lifted it away from the moat. Rosie was on lookout, whilst Evie unlatched the window. She gave the plank to Rosie and scrambled inside.
"Pass me back the plank and I'll set it down on the ground." Evie whispered, holding her hands out.
Rosie passed her the plank and climbed inside to join her sister. Peering around the corner, Evie gave the signal for Rosie to follow her. Rosie picked up the plank, and tailed behind her sister. As quietly as they could, the girls crept up the stairs and into their bedroom. They shut the door quietly behind them, and let out a deep breath.
"What a day!" Rosie exclaimed, changing back into her silver princess dress.
"Best day of our lives!" Evie exclaimed, changing back into her golden princess dress.
After the plank was safely back in the wardrobe, the girls continued to play with their toys until bedtime.
One hour later, their mother, Queen Valley, tucked them in to bed.
"How was your day?" She asked.
Evie and Rosie looked at each other, and began telling the story of their day.
"We met a unicorn and a donkey....."
As the girls trailed off, they acted out all the quests they had to do and how they got to wear the most amazing armour.
"You princesses have quite an imagination!" Queen Valley remarked, to the girls' disappointment.
As she kissed them both good night, Queen Valley shut the door to their bedroom. Princess Evie and Princess Rosie couldn't sleep that night.
"When do you think we can go back?" Rosie asked.
"Look for a rainbow." Evie said.
THE END!!!
