Hopeless Team

Chapter 8

"So we're heading over to the gym now" Oikawa said. "Follow me" Kageyama followed Oikawa out the lunchroom and towards the gym. The others were already there waiting. Once they got there they saw everyone on the ground sitting. Oikawa and Kageyama went to sit down next to them. "So I know that there is one new person here today! Hello Kageyama my name is Azumane Asahi but you can call me Mr.Azumane". Kageyama recognized him. He was the guy from the other day.

Kageyama nodded his head. "So Kageyama we usually play volleyball everyday after lunch. Dr.Koshi told me you actually used to play volleyball! He said you were quite good at it". Everyone looked over at Kageyama surprised. "What position did you play" Bokuto says. Kageyama was uncomfortable. Sure he did love volleyball. But he had stopped playing after middle school. It had been a couple months since he last played. "setter" Kageyama says quietly. "Nice" Bokuto replies. Mr.Azumane put everyone into teams and set up the net.   Kageyama was in a team with Kuroo, Kenma, Bokuto, Akaashi and Tanaka. They were up against Iwaizumi, Tendo, Ushijima, Tsukishima, Yamaguchi and Nishanoya. Oikawa sat out because he wasn't supposed to do that much exercise since he didn't eat much today. Though he did Wanna play. "Mr.Azumane let me play please. I ate enough today I didn't even get to play yesterday." Oikawa pleaded. Mr.Azumane shook his head. "come on!! that's not fair I never get to play"! Mr.Azumane reassured he'd get to play once he got better. Oikawa got and angry and annoyed and started to walk off towards the door. "Oikawa come back" Mr.Azumane shouted. Everyone turned to look over at the commotion. "I need the bathroom". Oikawa said. "I'm calling Mr.Sadayuki"! Mr.Azumane said as Oikawa waved his hand back and left the gym. Kageyama thought he didn't care that much. He wish he could do that right now. He didn't wanna play again. "Ok guys let's start the game". Kageyama's team was receiving first. Tsukishima serves the ball over. Tanaka passed it over to Kageyama. It wasn't a very good pass so Kageyama had to run a bit to set. He still managed to make a perfect set to Bokuto. The ball fell down on floor. Bokuto missed it. "Sorry" He Said to Kageyama. "It's fine"       Both teams played back and forth. Each time Kageyama got even more mad. He couldn't take it. They could barely hit the ball over. Kageyama knew his sets were good. So why couldn't it go over. Unless , They weren't as good Kageyama thought. Kageyama set the ball once again this time for Kuroo. He heard the ball fall down on his side of the court once again. "Damn it why can't you get it over" Kageyama yelled! Which he soon regretted after. Everyone turned their head towards Kageyama. Kageyama froze. He couldn't believe what he just said. "I- I I'm sorry" Kageyama said quietly. He felt a lump in his throat and tears starting to fill up his eyes. He didn't know what to do. All he could think about was running. He had to run. run, run, run.         Kageyama ran towards the door not thinkning about anything else. He heard someone calling after him but didn't pay any attention to it. It ran past the hallway and went to the bathroom by the dorms. He went to the corner not caring if someone walked in. He sat down crossing his hands over his legs. He needed to do something. He knew he couldn't but he needed to. He wanted to hurt himself. There wasn't any razor around. Kageyama looked down at his arm. There was a spot of blood on the white gauze. One of his stitches must've ripped when he was playing. He held onto one of his arm tightly. It hurt and he loved it. He held on tighter and stayed like that for a couple minutes. He started to see some blood seeping through the gauze. He held on tighter watching it. He started to calm down.          Just then the door burst open. Dr.Koshi and a few other Adults came in. Kageyama was scared. "Hey, Kageyama it's ok, come here". Dr.Koshi said. Kageyama shook his head. Kageyama saw a needle that Dr.Koshi had and backed up. "Hey let go of your arm ok. I'll help you". Instead Kageyama started to rip off the gauze. One of the Adults went over and grabbed his Shoulder. Kageyama fought him struggling to get him off. Two other Adults went over to hold him down on the floor. One was holding his shoulders down and the other two each had a leg. Kageyama tried his hardest to break free. He couldn't help but cry. Kageyama cried loudly and starting to scream. Anyone that was in that hallway could hear them. Dr.Koshi felt bad for him. He didn't wanna do this. He walked over to Kageyama. "It's ok Kageyama, Calm down ok it'll be quick". Kageyama still cried heavily. Dr.Koshi Stuck the needle inside Kageyama's arm and pushed the fluid inside. After a couple seconds Kageyama stopped struggling and calmed down. He passed out and slept soundly on the floor.       Dr.Koshi picked him up Bridal Style and placed him in a wheelchair outside the room. He pushed Kageyama over to where the doctors office was. He picked him back up placing him on one of the beds. A nurse stayed with him. Dr.Koshi left the room heading back to the gym to inform Mr.Azumane. The other patients looked confused. Mr.Azumane informed Dr.Koshi about Oikawa leaving so Dr.Koshi went to go look for Oikawa. He went over to the common area and saw Oikawa on the chair curled up. He looked like he was crying. Mr.Sadayuki was next to him rubbing his back. Mr.Sadayuki went over to Dr.Koshi. "One of the supervisors at lunch saw him putting his food in someone plate and told me. I told him I would have to put and I.V in him so he could get some calories and nutrition but he started to cry uncontrollably. I don't know what to do now." Mr.Sadayuki said. "Maybe we can call Iwaizumi, I know they are really close. Maybe he can get him to calm down"? Dr.Koshi agreed and went back to the gym to call for Iwaizumi. He went over to him whispering something in his ear. The others were again confused. Iwaizumi left with Dr.Koshi and went over to the common area. He sat next to Oikawa and rubbed his back. "Hey get up come on". He shook he head refusing. Iwaizumi pulled Oikawa up and laid his head on his lap. Iwaizumi soothed his hair out. That got Oikawa to cry less and calm down a bit. "Just listen to them ok. They're trying to help you. They want you to get better and so do I" Iwaizumi reassured. Oikawa shook his head. "no I don't want it! I'll eat instead." Oikawa said. "come on oikawa please. Just for today ok." Oikawa still refused. "Your gonna have to stay longer Oikawa. Their gonna give it to you either way you know. They can do it with you unconscious or not". "Your gonna get points taken off." Oikawa hesitantly nodded his head. Dr.Koshi left the room and got another doctor to bring a wheelchair with and I.V. Iwazumi got up and Mr.Sadayuki placed Oikawa down on the wheelchair. He held his hand while doctors placed the I.V in Oikawa arm. "Thank you Iwaizumi. Let's go back now" Dr.Koshi said. Iwaizumi nodded his head and left with Dr.Koshi. Me.Sadayuki bent down to face Oikawa. He smiled and told him they were gonna back to the gym. "No. I don't wanna go. Can I go to the plant room". Mr.Sadayuki nodded his head and pushed Oikawa towards the plant room. The plant room is really just a room filled with plants. It's supposed to help people calm down. It helps Oikawa most times.      Iwaizumi and Dr.Koshi went back to the gym everyone eyeing them as they walked. Iwaizumi went back to his team to play. "Hey where were you" Nishanoya said. "No where, are we playing or what"? Nishanoya nodded his head and they went back to playing. Dr. Koshi informed Mr.Azumane what had happened then left. He went to the doctors where Kageyama was. He walked in and saw Kageyama laid down on a bed still unconscious with Ms.Kyoko beside him. "How long will he be out"? Dr.Koshi asked. "He'll probably wake up tonight. Maybe 8 or 9." Dr.Koshi nodded his head. "I had to fix his stitches though. Some of them came out". Ms.Kyoko said. "Damn it". Dr.Koshi said under his breathe. "you really care about him don't you"? "I'm supposed to. I gotta head back ok. See you later". Dr.Koshi waved goodbye and left.  -----      Mr.Azumane called the kids over. "I think that all for today guys". They all nodded their heads. He looked at his watch. It was 4:02. "Ok guys Visitation hours let's go to the front"! Everyone went towards the door rushing out. Most we're excited to see their family. Everyone went down to the first floor and waited in the lobby. "Hey Mr.Azumane where are Oikawa and Kageyama"? Akaashi asked. "There busy right now they'll be here later ok"! Akaashi nodded his head. Visitation time was at 4:10 so they had to wait for a couple minutes.       A supervisor called them over to the family room. The family room was a big room with lots of couches.  Me.Azumane led everyone to the room. There was lots of parents there. Some were running late. Everyone went to give their parents hugs and talk to them. Their parents would also drop off some clothes for them every week they came to visit. Tsukishima sat in the corner of the family room waiting. His parents rarely come. They hadn't came last week and only his mother came the week before for 5 minutes. Mr.Azumane noticed him sitting their alone and sat beside him. "there not here yet" He asked. Tsukishima shook his head looking annoyed. "Their prob-" Tsukishima cut him off saying he didn't care anyways. Mr.Azumane sighed. "Should I call"? He asked. Tsukishima shook his head. "Let's get some clothes then". They both got up and walked to a doctors office. "Tsukishima needs clothes again". Mr.Azumane said. The doctor nodded her head and looked at Tsukishima with sympathy. He turned his head away as she got up to get some clothes. Tsukishima didn't like the clothes he got. He wanted his clothes from home. The clothes they had here were all grey and white. They were simply boring. Tsukishima grabbed the clothes and bowed thanking her before walking off. Mr.Azumane walked him back to the room. He saw Oikawa and Kageyama's parents looking worried. He walked up to each family informing them of what happened. He told them both they would probably stay on this floor longer due to losing points. They understood and left. Everyone on the second floor has points. They would all start at 100 points at the beginning of two weeks. They would need 85 points to pass this level. Losing points means staying longer. It wasn't like losing one point meant staying one day longer. But doing something that doesn't help your recovery will cause you to lose points.        After two weeks if you don't have 85 or more points you stay a while longer. Kageyama just got there but is now at 92. He lost 8 points mainly because he hurt himself. Oikawa was now at 80 points. This wasn't his first mistake and probably isn't his last. What a great day.
