Ophelia wakes up sore and uncomfortable the next morning, she had fallen asleep on the floor of her studio. Her intention was to take a quick nap and then get back to work, but she just never woke up, getting her night's sleep on the cool hardwood floor. However, she considers it worth it, because she's so close to being done she can feel it sizzling in her fingertips.
But unfortunately, Ophelia made plans today and painting would have to wait. John B wouldn't believe her if she said she was sick anyways. So, picking herself up off the ground, Ophelia heads to her bedroom and into her ensuite bathroom for a quick shower. The hot water relaxes her tense, stiff muscles as she cleans herself off for the day ahead. When she's done, Ophelia brushes her teeth and gives her long, blonde hair a blow dry before throwing it up in her usual messy bun, keeping it out of her way. She changes from a towel into a pretty flower-patterned bikini, a pair of acid wash shorts (she painted flowers onto the back pockets out of boredom), and an old Fleetwood Mac t-shirt she bought second hand. Quickly, she cleans her glasses throwing them on and getting her backpack ready with a few essentials.
Calling goodbye to her Dads, Ophelia shoves her feet into some birkenstocks as she heads outside, stopping in the doorway for a second. Hurricane Agatha had knocked debris onto their property, and a tree had fallen a few feet from the house, but other than that, they're relatively unscathed. Ophelia hops on her bike and sets off on the trek to the marina, hoping she hasn't missed her friends yet.
It's a long bike ride, about thirty minutes, and Ophelia is tired by the time she reaches the dock, pulling a water bottle from her bag and taking a few gulps. She quickly locks her bike to a random post and sets off down the marina, eyes peeled for the HMS Pogue. When she sees them: John B, Kiara, Pope, and Jj, past the end of the dock, she cups her hands around her mouth, shouting, "Hey! You missed one!"
"You're late!" John B calls, looking over his shoulder, "Maybe next time!"
"John B!" When the HMS turns around, Ophelia grins. She knows that he wouldn't leave her behind, no matter how many times he jokes about it.
As they get close, Jj stands up and walks to the side of the boat that Ophelia will be boarding on, "I'll only help you on if you promise you'll take your shirt off today."
Ophelia feels the burn on her cheeks, having no doubt in her mind that her face is bright pink from the boy's words, "Shut up and give me your hands," She says. Jj listens, leaning forward with both hands extended as John B slows near the dock. Cautiously, Ophelia takes Jj's hands, stepping onto the boat with care. Their hands linger together for a second before Ophelia pulls away, her cheeks still pink. She glares at both John B and Jj, "You're idiots," Turning towards Pope and Kiara Ophelia nods at them, "You two are excluded from that."
Jj shrugs, "You still love us."
"Unfortunately," Ophelia scoffs, brushing off the blonde and setting her backpack on the floor and heading to the bow, sitting on it cross legged.
Kiara opens her cooler, passing bottles of beer that Ophelia guesses she stole from her parent's fridge out to the group, "Lia?" The girl chirps, her arm extended to hand the green eyed girl the drink.
Ophelia takes the bottle from her, immediately holding it out to Jj so he can pop the cap off, "Ophelia," She corrects, her eyes wandering up to Jj as he takes the bottle and easily takes the cap off, handing it back to the blonde girl, muttering, 'm'lady,' as he does so.
To thank him, Ophelia holds her hand up, clinking her bottle against his before they both take a long sip.
As they head out to the marsh, Ophelia moves down from her seat on the bow, leaning against the side of the boat beside Kiara instead, both girls laughing at something John B and Jj were joking about.
