Roman's POV
I ran down the winding roads and through dark alleys, trying to make it as far from the house as possible before Virgil could try and follow me. Once I saw his old apartment building, I let out a soft sigh and fell into a jog to complete the rest of the journey to the lab. Patton, Logan, and I had been working on cleaning the place up after we thought Virgil had died, just in case there was an emergency. Funny how it worked out, the reason we made the safe house is now the very reason we have to hide in it. Talk about irony.
As soon as I stepped through the doors, I was enveloped in a bone-crushing hug by Patton. "Hey Pat, I see you're healed," I chuckled. He didn't respond, just held me tighter. I thought that he was just worried until I felt a wetness on my shirt. He was crying. "Hey, hey, hey. It's okay Patton, nothing happened. I'm fine." "I know, but he's alive! He's really alive, but he's so different! He tried to kill us!" He gasped out between sobs. I gave him a quick squeeze before pulling him back by the shoulders and looking him in the eyes. "I know Pat, but I saw his eyes. There was something wrong with them, I don't think he's in control." He looked happy upon hearing this and was about to say something else when Logan walked over and spoke first. "Were you followed?" "No, I don't think so. We should be safe here, do you have a plan?" He nodded before motioning for us to follow him into one of the old labs and taking a seat in one of our new chairs. "The best plan I could come up with is we wait here for a couple of days and train your powers and then contact Remus so he can help us. We could use his knowledge to help us save Virgil." Patton nodded along but I spoke up, "That's a great plan, except it sucks so why don't we listen to my plan. We go over to the cave now, kick some peoples butt's, save Virgil, and live happily ever after." I smiled at my awesome plan but apparently it wasn't liked because Logan threw something to the floor. Well, I didn't actually see him throw anything but I assumed it was him because he never likes my plans. My theory, though, was quickly crushed when Logan stood up and turned towards the door. "M--Maybe it was a bird?" "Patton, how would a bird break the skylight? No this is obviously Romans fault. He was followed." I quickly jumped up to defend myself. "What!?! Why is this my fault? It was you that was followed! You probably had to stop every five minutes to look at rocks or something!" "That was one time and it was a very rare type of Braunite! It was an incredible find!" I scoffed and walked towards the door. "What are you doing?!? They might not know where we are right now, you'll give away our position!" "Please Logan, I know exactly what I'm doing. You do the desk job, I do fieldwork. I can handle this," I said while looking back at him while my hand began to turn the doorknob. However, as soon as the door began to open, it was kicked back into my chest and I was thrown backward. My back hit the floor, knocking the air out of me and I gasped for breath. I pushed the door off me to see Patton by my side, Logan standing in front of him, and a hooded figure standing in the door frame, fists at the ready. I pushed myself up on to my shoulders and would like to say I wasn't surprised to see it was Virgil. "Hey man, didn't expect to see you here so soon," I coughed out. He remained frozen, waiting for us to make the first move. Surprisingly, it was Logan to move first. "Hello Anxiety, welcome back. You know what this reminds me of? That one scene from the Adams Family. In Act 2 when Wendy had the crossbow, doesn't it remind you of that? You did love that movie." 'Pfft, Logan obviously doesn't remember right. The crossbow was in Act 1, not Act........CROSSBOW!' I shifted my body to cover my arm and created a small crossbow. 'Logan, you're a genius.' I thought as I slowly shifted my body weight to my other arm. As quickly as I could, I brought the crossbow around and fired. Thankfully it only grazed Virgil's arm, but it was definitely enough to be a problem. I hopped to my feet and got into a fighting stance. Virgil looked between me and Logan, who had gotten into a semi-decent fighting stance, and then down to his arm. Then he bolted. "Change of plan, follow him!" Logan cried and began to chase him out the door. Patton and I exchanged a looked before following.

We ended up back at the secret base, cave, thing. I began to run into the tunnel but Logan stopped me. "What now Logan?!? We are so close and you want to stop and 'make a plan'?" He adjusted his glasses before giving me a look. "On the contrary Roman, I would merely like to activate my powers before we charge right into an enemy hideout." "YAY! This is so exciting, we'll all have our powers now!" Patton cried and began to do a little dance. I shrugged and walked over to him, pulling out my pocketknife which I had conveniently forgotten until now. I made a small slit on his outstretched palm and copied the process on mine. I then grabbed his hand and pressed our blood together. His blood began to glow gold and traveled through his veins, spreading through his whole body. "Oh I quite like that, lets try this out." He turned his hand towards a rock lying next to Patton and began to lift it before propelling it into the water. "Alright, let's go save our friend."
