Rainbow's POV

Mom let me come to work with her since I couldn't be left home alone, it was Saturday so I wasn't going to school.

Mom works making the office area and sometimes does the scale and blood pressure thing.

I usually would help her, and watch her one co-worker's 10 year old daughter, Scootaloo.

We just sat in the back, and played a game. I texted soarin every once and a while.

When we go home dad was there...

I stayed close to Mom. We ate dinner and went to bed, dad however came up and beat me, he ripped off the bandage and banged my head on the wall.

Dad heard mom coming and ran downstairs before mom saw him.

Mom gasped, "baby what happened"

"Mom-mommy" I said

"I'm right here" She picked me up and held me close to her chest.

"Who did this to you" She asked

"Dad..." I said with a sniffle,

She mumbled something then said to me, "alright baby, let's getcha fixed up"

She carried me downstairs and layed me on the couch, she went to get her medical stuff and came back.

She couldn't see me in my dark room but she saw me better than.

She gave me some ice for my eye, wrapped my wrist back up, and tended to some other cuts and bruises.

She put her stuff away and came back, she stroked my hair, and kissed the top of my head, I fell asleep.

Not even 10 minutes later I heard my parents yelling at each other, I heard cursing, and something about a divorce, I didn't want them to divorce because of me...

I heard Mom yell at dad to leave, I heard him agree and him go upstairs and 20 minutes later he left...

Mom came over to me and picked me up, my eyes were closed, she carried me upstairs and layed me on my bed.

"Mommy?" I said opening my eyes

"Hi baby" She said

"What's going to happen with you and dad?" I asked

"Well me and dad don't love each other anymore, it's not because of you so don't blame yourself ever" She said, "I know dad hurts you, but he won't ever again, I promise"

"Mommy, why is dad mean to me" I asked

"He just doesn't see how awesome and adorable you are" She said

"Mommy, I don't wanna see dad again" I said

"You won't see him for a while baby, " She said, "now you need some sleep alright, I'll take you to see doctor West tomorrow before I have to work,"

I nodded, "can I... Maybe... Um..."

"Do you want to sleep with me baby" She asked

I nodded

She picked me up, "you're scared after what happened huh"

I nodded and leaned on her shoulder as I held my stuffed tortoise.

We went to her room and layed in bed, she stroked my hair as I nuzzled into her chest. And fell asleep...

When we went to her work early, Mrs.park said to me, "hi rainbow, what happened to ya"

I stayed silent.

I had tank my stuffy, phone, and earbuds in my pocket.

Mom whispered what happened into her ear, "oh dear, I'm sorry rainbow, you want a hug?"

I nodded, she gave me a hug, and I hugged back.

When she pulled away she said, "we're ready for you anyway"

We followed her down the hallway,

I sat on the exam table as she gave me a check up before Dr.West came in.

"Hi rainbow" He said, "so what happened"

I stayed quiet and took out tank, petting his soft fluff.

"So what happened Evelyn" He said to  my mom

"Her dad beat her up" She said,"she hasn't talked since last night"

"You poor thing," He said, "let's check those bruises"

He checked my bruises and rewrapped my wrist, then asked me, "do you want to talk"

I shook my head,

"Alright I won't push you too," He said

He got something out of the cabinet, a white board?

"Here" He said, "write down your answers"

I nodded

He asked me questions, I didn't know some things I should know, I just wanted to go home or to just sit with mommy.

"So she might have a concussion, just keep an extra eye on her, and try to get her to talk," He said, "I know you have work in a hour"

"Ya" Mom said, "thanks West"

"No problem Evelyn, feel better rainbow" He said

We went home so mom could get changed. I got my backpack and put, tank, my phone, notebook, earbuds, my book for ELA, and pencil case.

When went back and I sat in the back I layed on the couch and put my music on in my ears, and fell asleep.

"Dashie? Baby? Wake up" I heard mommy,

I opened my eyes too seeing her face,

"C'mere baby" She said, "it's time to go home"

She gave me my bag before picking me up, I leaned on her shoulder, we went home, on the way home she explained that I wasn't allowed to be on my phone 24/7 till Wednesday.

I was barely paying attention.

When we got home we went inside we had dinner and she put me to bed, I held tank in my arms,

"Why won't you talk baby" She asked while tucking me in.

I wrote on the piece of paper on my end table, "I'm scared mommy, dad scares me,"

"Don't worry about dad he won't hurt you ever again" She said

I nodded

She stayed with me till I feel asleep.
