Heather just kinda sat there and Veronica tried not to burst with laughter. Heather and Connor stared at eachother as the bus drove up and they all got on. Veronica made Heather sit with Connor, of course.

"Heather, right?" Connor said. "Yeah." They both sat in silence as the bus stopped on the nearest bus stop to Heather's house. "Bye," she said to him as she got off the bus with her groceries. Veronica followed her and watched as the bus drove away.

"I'm surprised he didn't flip the bus over. He'd probably get angry or something because it was going slow or because it was too quiet." Veronica said as they walked. "Ronnie! That's not funny. People change, y'know?"

"Hey, maybe we'll change too. Like, again. Because we already changed last year and the year before that." Veronica said, sounding spacey. Heather thought of changing. Change was scary. But she did it every day without notice. Without question. "Yeah. We'll change. We do it every day."

They got to Veronica's house, and departed. Then, Heather walked alone. She got to her house, putting one hand full of groceries down and getting her keys.

Maybe summer won't be so bad.
