Chapter 5

Recap: Abhay lets Piya read his mind. In a war against rebel Abahyendra and Siddharth lost their father and soon after their mother joined him in death. Princess Maithali has arrived back in kingdom after years but to find things have changed between her and Abhayendra.

Princess was roaming in her chamber waiting for Abhayendra. She had convinced her father into appointing Abhayendra as her security detail so she can spend more time with him.

Abhayendra knocked on the door before entering her chambers and bowed down.  Maithali dismisses her maiden asked her to close the chamber doors behind her as she left.

Maithali: Abhayendra aapko humare samne ye sab karne ki jarurat nahi he.

Abhayedra: Rajkumari ..

Maithali: Rajkumari nahi Maithali. Aap Hume humare naam se bula sakte he Abhayendra.  Aapke Liye hum humesha Maithali he Rajkumari nahi.

Abhayendra: esa nahi ho sakta Rajkumari. Hum aapke peeta k Rajya me ek chote se nokar he. Vo humari is gustakhi ko kabhi maaf nahi karege.

Maithali looked at him with hurt eyes. He was still kneeling in front of her formally not meeting her eyes as any servant in her father's kingdom would. But in her heart he was not just a servant but her dear friend with whom she spent her childhood playing.

Maithali: aap Badal Gaye ho Abhayendra. Kya itne Varsho me humari jagah kisi aur ne le li he ?

Abhayendra immediately shot his face upwards looking at her straight.

Abhayendra: esa kese ho sakta he Maithali. Aapki jagah koi kese le sakta he.

Maithali: hum taras Gaye aapke muh se humara naam sunane ke liye!!

Abhayendra immediately realised his fault and tried correcting but Maithali rushes to him and put her hand on his lips. The soft touch of her hand as her fingers brushed against his lips tantalised both of them. Maithali quickly looked down as her lips curled into small smile and her cheeks blushed.

Maithali: nahi bas. Hum aur kuch nahi sunana chahte. Hum aapki duvidha Samjate he. Varsho pehle papa ne hume yaha se dur bheja tha taki hum aapko bhul jaye. Aapse dur ho jaye. Par sach to yahi he k itne Varsho me hum sirf aapko hi yaad karte the. Dekho!!

She opened a drawer in her closet and lifted a board which gave impression of a faux base of the drawer. In there he could see many paintings of him which princess had drawn. All of them were his childhood paintings before Maithali left. He gazed at them and then at her with fondness in his eyes.

Maithali: aap Hume Maithali hi kahoge Abhayendra. Rajkumari hum Keval dusro k Liye he. Aapke Liye nahi. Kya aap humare Liye itna sa kar sakte he?

Before Abhayendra could answer their conversation was broken by knock on door.

Maiden: Rajkumari aapki nagar Yatra ka samay ho gaya he. Aapki palakhi tayar he.

Maithali: hum palakhi par nahi ghode par jayege. Hum baki Rajkumario ki tarah darpan ke samne rhene valon me se nahi he par ek yodha ki tarah jayege aur apani Praja de milega.

King also entered her chambers and he saw Abhayendra there who had again taken his courteous position of kneeling in front of princess.

King: par beta palakhi me aap jyada surakshit rhege.

Maithali: papa aap to jante he hume ghudsavari (horse riding) ka kitna Shokh he. Aur Abhyendra he to humari Raksha k Liye. Humne unhe yahi baat karne k Liye bulaya tha taki vo humari Raksha ka intejaam kar sakte.
